I will be going on a vacation to new orleans in July, at which time I will be in between 13 and 14 weeks with my first pregnancy. All my summer clothes are going to be too small on me as I have been bloated since a week before I knew I was pregnant. I am already one size larger and all my clothes are uncomfortable!
Should I try to buy some maternity clothes for this trip...or should I just buy some loose fitting summer wardrobe and hang on as long as possible in regular clothes. I am curious to see if I will even fit into maternity clothes by then.
Thanks for the help
Re: Maternity Clothes Question for Already Mommies
I would just go up another size for now. At 13-14 weeks, maternity clothes will be too big.
Plus if you buy maternity clothes now, they probably won't last your entire pregnancy.
Looser tops should work fine; if you are in need of pants/capris/shorts, look for the ones without the full panel--- just elastic waist. I started wearing mine at 8 weeks this time because they were more comfortable. You may grow out of them, which is annoying. I couldn't wear mine after about 28 weeks last time as they were too tight.
Sundresses are a godsend, as is the Bella Band.
Thanks ladies! you were all lots of help.
I am going to look into maybe a pair of shorts and 1 set of capris with an elastic waist band if I can find them and just find lots of loose tops, dresses and skirts I think. I am definately going to need more cold weather maternity stuff than summer stuff so it does make sense not to waste too much money. However...one or two maternity bottoms maybe heaven-scent for my bloat-induced discomfort (and lord knows what the airplane ride is going to do to me with the bloating either!! Yikes!)
Sundresses and skirts were my best friend last pregnancy. In the spring/summer anyway. I bought a couple skirts from old navy and wore those with tank tops for the longest time. Maternity tanks, I thought, were pretty long so even if they are too long now, they will be comfy and still fit later.

Agreed!
I wouldn't buy a size larger because then if you bounce back really fast after pregnancy those clothes are going to be wasted. I would try some transitional maternity clothes which can be meant for both during and after pregnancy. They will give you extra room right now while you aren't showing much and they can also be used during and after pregnancy so you aren't wasting money on clothing.
