XP (Jan. 2012) What did you need?

I just found out a friend of mine had her babies via emergency C-S at 24 weeks.  She had twins.  They live too far away for me to visit or physically help with her toddler, but I am wondering what you all appreciated and or needed while your babies were in the NICU.  She doesn't have family in the area, although I am sure they will visit and I know she has a great network of friends an hour or so away.  I was planning on sending some adorable outfits and a gift certificate to a restaurant when the babies were due in October, but now I am wondering what would be most helpful.  What did you need?
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

going back and forth to the NICU, we never had time to do food shopping or cooking so if you could send her some food that would probably be really helpful for her. Maybe you can call a local restaurant or deli to send over some meals or just some snacks.

P.S. I just wanted to add I think you are a great friend for thinking of your friend and wanting to do something nice for her! She is lucky to have a friend like you :)

What a good friend you are! Here are some of the things I really appreciated. Food, a nice robe for walking back and forth to the hospital (assuming she's still admitted), a hands free bra - she's going to be doing a lot of pumping and that thing saved my sanity, preemie clothes. My SIL also got me a birthstone necklace from James Avery and that was probably my favorite gift. It just felt so normal - like we were celebrating my son being born and not focusing on him being a preemie. Also, assuming they are still admitted it would be nice to get the husband a visa gift card for hospital food. I had food from the hospital, but my husband had to buy every meal and for our 11 day stay that got expensive.

lots of people brought us magazines and cards, but I honestly did not look at a single one. I was just too emotionally overwhelmed.

Food that they can grab and go.  We never had time to cook or shop. trail mix, granola bars, easy dinners, etc.
