Still just settling in to RI after our move 3 years ago and wondering if anyone has favorite free/inexpensive day trip places for babies/toddlers etc. Parks, museums, farms etc? We're up in the E. Prov. area but we dont mind driving either.. any ideas?

Re: Place to take kids in RI
Let's see... The trail through Lincoln Woods is nice, and there is a little beach area (although check that the beach is open before you go if you want to swim). I know they charge sometimes, but I don't know how much and I have no idea what their schedule is.
Roger Williams Park Zoo isn't cheap, but it is a lot of fun. Relatively stroller-friendly, and they've done a lot of improvements recently.
The imPossible dream playground in Warwick is really cool. They have a donation bin when you walk in, so just give what you're able/comfortable with.
In Charlestown, there's the Fantastic Umbrella Factory that has a little free petting zoo. If I remember right, it's either on the road into Ninigret Park or not far from there. The park used to have a little visitor's center, too, but I'm not sure how much fun it would be for really little ones.
get yourself a zoo membership at RWZ.....it is open all year long and great to stop in even if you only have an hour...it pays for itself in just 4/5 visits.
