Anyone else not have their pregnancy triggered wrist pains dissipate since giving birth or is it just me? I'm over six weeks post partum and wondering when to see a doctor about it and what type of doctor is appropriate?
Oh my gosh, I've been in agony for the last couple weeks. I had no idea it was a pregnancy-related thing. That actually makes me feel better; I thought I was getting tendonitis.
Look up "Mommy Thumb"... It's also known as DeQuervain's syndrome and it's a form of tendinitis. I've even suffering from it for close to 5 weeks now and it's excruciatingly painful.
I called my OB about it but they told me to see my primary doctor who diagnosed me. He prescribed an anti-inflammatory pill and advised me to wear thumb/ wrist stabilizing braces on both wrists. I was told that if that didn't fix it that we may have to move on to physical therapy and possibly cortisone injections (ouch!).
