Medical marijuana?

I think it's a pretty random question for the bump...but I think it's fine if it helps people, it's better than a bunch of synthetic chemical drugs IMO

I think if its used appropriately for properly diagnosed conditions that actually benefit from it then its okay. Unfortunately, like all drugs (legal, illegal, prescription, or OTC) there will always be people who abuse them and doctors who hand out scripts unnecessarily.

MMJ is legal where I live. I find the dispensaries (where they sell it) to be a joke. The people who go into them look like, mostly, young, able-bodied people who don't appear to be suffering from cancer, glaucoma, etc. MMJ has also complicated other issues, like legal limit of drug impairment to drive, child welfare (is it ok to smoke around your kids if you have a license?), etc.

ETA: Since dispensaries are cash-only, they are also bringing increased crime to neighborhoods they are in, due to robberies and such. MMJ suppliers are also often robbed/assaulted, etc.

What kind of conditions do you think?

I live in AZ where the proposition passed a couple years back...But there are a lot of legal issues still up in the air. And the dispensaries are having trouble getting up and running because of it. I have a friend that has her card and has been able to purchase from the dispensary, but I think it is organized like a co-op and not a business yet.

I'm all for it. If you've got cancer and smoking marijuana helps you get comfortable and eat, I'm all for it.

But I also think it should be legal for all people, similar to alcohol/cigarettes, and be regulated and taxed. More money for the government and less tax dollars spent on prosecuting/jailing/etc. pot heads. Win-Win IMO.

My company just added a section addressing medical marijuana use in it's policies and procedures manual. It was an interesting read

Here in SoCal it has been legal for a while (since late 90's I think), yet most companies still do require entry and random drug screening and will not hire based upon results, which IMO, since we have legalized MMJ is discrimination. However, they get by it still claiming they have the right under federal law.

The Company intends to comply with the employee non-discrimination provisions of the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act. Specifically, unless failure to do so would cause the Company to suffer a monetary or licensing related benefit under Federal law or regulations, discrimination in hiring or termination or in connection with any other term or condition of employment, against an applicant or teammate who is a holder of a valid medical marijuana permit, based upon his or her status as a cardholder or based upon a positive drug test for marijuana components or metabolites, is prohibited.

Consistent with Arizona law, ?current use? of any drug means drug use that has occurred recently enough to justify the Company?s reasonable belief that involvement with drugs is ongoing. ?Current use? is not limited to any specific time frame and depends on the facts in each individual case.

Nothing in this policy prevents or limits the Company?s ability to discipline, terminate or refuse to hire any person, including a medical marijuana cardholder, based on the use or possession of, or impairment by, marijuana (medical or otherwise) on Company premises or during the hours of employment.

Interesting, thanks for sharing, I totally agree with the above bold part. While I approve of MMJ I don't think people should use it while at work during "on the clock" hours. I wish more places in SoCal would take this stance.

I tend to agree...But I would also add...I started taking Lyrica on Monday for nerve damage/pain and it makes me far more out of it than pot. I am thinking of getting a medical marijuana card...I have an appt next week.

Good luck and I suggest you look at a vaporizer that way you don't have smoke fumes in or around your DD and it is easier to regulate in take.

I would never, ever, ever smoke in my house or in front of P. I find that to be in very poor taste. I would wait until she was in bed and be sure DH was around in case something happened. Honestly, I am still debating about it. It sucks that it has come to this in the first place.

I agree completely!

Agree with above aswell. But there are so many other questions...and it impairs "everyday" things..I don't know. Since I don't need it I don't care much to voice my opinion on it.

ETA- It's like alcohol...it's legal and I agree with the 21 and over...but I don't want to have an encounter with someone who is driving after having too many drinks...(not sure if I make myself clear..)
