Trouble TTC #2?

I was diagnosed with endo 14 years ago.  I've been seeking aggressive treatment ever since, trying to preserve my body for a child when the time was right.  12 years later, I have my precious DD.  I charted my first 2 cycles off the pill.  I discovered that I was ovulating late in my cycle, called my Dr, and he said it was time for some help.  On my 3rd cycle we tried Clomid.  That worked with the first try.

What have your experiences been TTC #2?  Did you try on your own for a while?  Did your Dr want to start you back on drugs with the 1st cycle?  Just curious.  Thanks for sharing your stories.

Re: Trouble TTC #2?

  • 1st time around I tried 4 months before I went to my Ob for help. The 2nd cycle of Clomid did the trick. We began ttc#2 when my son was 10 months. I thought there was a chance I could get pregnant without any help. I was wrong. After a few months I went to my OB for Clomid... 4 failed cycles later she refered me to an RE. I thought PCOS got better after having a child... in my case it got worse.

With the RE we did one fresh and one frozen IVF cycle...BFN. I also tried just a medicated cycle with TI....BFN

Its been over 2 years of ttc#2. I have moved on to a new RE. I just finished my tests and have my "discussion" apt next week.

I wish I would have started treatment again when my son was only 3 months.

Good Luck and let us know what you decide so we can support you either way.

  • I FF DS, and never went back on the pill to see what would happen. I never got AF, so I just called my RE right away. I went back to him when DS was 4months old...I know it can take a while, so I started early! He put me on the same meds as I was on the first time. This time they added Metformin to level off my responses (I have PCOS and was all over the place on injectables the first time...though I did get pregnant on my first IUI cycle last time). This time they have me on a lower dose of injectables because I was nervous about multiples, but everything else is the same. I am currently in the 2ww from my second IUI cycle.
  • I wish I would have called the doctor sooner.  We tried for about three years before I thought maybe I should chart and see what is going on.   If I could do it over I'd have called within the first three months.  Now it looks like I don't ovulate regularly, and this is my first cycle on Clomid, estradiol and  prometrium.

Good luck, and please keep us updated!

  • I went off the pill and started charting about 6 months before we got married.  Cycles were all over the place with no obvious ovulation.  About a month after we got married I went to my gynae.  4 months later I was diagnosed with PCOS and we conceived DS on our first round of clomid.

Just before DS's first birthday I went off the pill again.  Gynae wouldn't put me on clomid again till my 1 year checkup.  At my checkup he put me back on the clomid straight away and we ended up doing 4 rounds all BFN.  Now we are looking at starting treatment ( clomid / injectibles ) with the RE in Early Feb.

  • We aren't actively TTC yet.  Due to multiple issues yet to be resolved, we probably won't try until summer.  I'll be around in the meantime, trying to "educate" myself with all of the experiences from other women on this board and prepare myself.
  • I think it is harder this time around (my levels are not as good on Clomid this time around). I'm just hanging in there... GL!

  • We didn't have any problems conceiving #1, so we thought it would be straightforward for #2....after about a year with no luck, we started seeing an RE, and started on Clomid. I've had 2 pregnancies, but also 2 miscarriages since.
