December 2010 Moms

Bring 'em, ladies. FFFC time!

I feel horrible about this one, but its true.

During the school year, DH and C leave for work/daycare at 6:45am and I don't need to be at work until 8am or 9am (depending on the day). My office is extremely close to our apartment, so I get a huge chunk of quiet time in the morning and then again at lunch. I LOVE IT.

Now that DH is off for the summer, however, they are always home! No more alone time for Momma. I was so freaking spoiled. Plus, we are still sending C to daycare for some social time Mondays and Wednesdays, so DH gets two whole days to himself. Not fair! lol

Don't get me wrong - I love seeing my boys more, but there is nothing quite like being able to get up, have a cup of coffee, shower, and get dressed in peace. ::sigh::

  • I don't think that is terrible, OSC.  I would miss it too!

Mine is that I still take a nap on most days when Evie does.  Sleep when the baby sleeps, right?  LOL.  I know I should be doing something productive but I like naps.

Nah, a nap is a necessity! Plus, then you don't risk waking her up. Genius if you ask me. Stick out tongue

My Dh worked nights for the past 2 nights, and I should have cleaned or did laundry or pretty much just something, since he wasn't home, but i didn't. I didn't cause I knew when he woke up in the afternoon he would do the dishes ect.

Also one of those nights, my MIL took T for the night.. I feel kinds guilty about that one, cause all I did after drop DH off at work was go and get my haircut and took the dog on a 1 1/2 hr walk. I was in bed by 9 pm.  with no kid and no husband at home, I REALLY should have done something.

You DID do something - saved your sanity. Totally legit.

Aww, no worries. As long as she's not watching like Jerry Springer or Teen Mom I'm sure its fine. lol In other news, I hope your nausea goes away!

We have here too.  My excuse is I've just been too lazy to be productive.  It's hot here and I have to keep up with 8 1 year olds when I go to work at 245.

Today is Dhs bday and I have a surprise party planned for when he gets home this afternoon since I did nothing for his 25 bday last year.  This morning he told me he was glad I wasn't having a party or anything because 26 was NBD.  I almost cancelled but I've put too much effort in it so I'm keeping the party. If not for anyone else, for myself

This is us too. I'm so nauseous and exhausted during the day I just want to lay on the couch, I feel bad.

  • I suggested a daddy/daughter day at the zoo this morning with DH.  I'm loving the down time and don't feel bad at all for it.

  • I am kind of being a biitch today.  AF showed up in the middle of the night and it's like Jack knows or something.  He rarely throws tantrums, but today it is NON STOP.  About daddy leaving for work, about his diaper being changed, about wanting ice in his milk (wtf?), about me not giving him cheese fast enough, etc etc etc.  at this very moment he is in his high chair screaming at the top of his lungs, pausing to giggle, and continuing.  Lord, help me make it through this day.
I used to be a big deal.  Now I'm just old.
  • I'm currently watching Honey while nursing the Squeaker - this movie is awful but I love it.  Also, when she spits up on both of us I clean myself off first.  And 3rd, I need to lose 2 babies worth of extra baby weight but I made dark chocolate berry brownies last night at 9 b/c I was craving something sweet.

  • I like the work I do, but I am having a haaaaard time being back at work this week, after being with DS all day, all week while we were on vacation. DS has been having a rough time with the transition too. As soon as he realizes I am getting ready for work, he starts clinging to my legs and crying. He busted out a full on scrunched up face ugly cry this morning when I left. My husband was looking at vacation photos on the computer earlier in the week, and when DS saw my picture, he started crying and begging for "mama" over and over and over again. It's ripping me up.

I really don't mind being a working mom, but I wish I had a way to get more face time with my kid. I mostly like my job, but I hate being gone from the house for 10+ hours a day (including commute time). Crying

  • I've been wearing the same nursing bra round the clock for the last 4 days. In that time I've taken 2 showers and still put it back on. It hasn't been spit up on  and it doesn't smell so I figure why not, even though in the back of mind mind I think this is kind of  gross.

Since I've been on mat leave we've all eaten terrible. O and I snack on junk all day long. It's got to stop but it is so hard when you are home all day with the temptation. Next time we buy groceries all of our snacks are  gonna be fruit or something.

  • I'm kind of happy the A/C is not working and DH took Sam out for the day...mama needs a break!! lol

It's like 90 degrees in here and since they left I've been cleaning and doing some more packing (we close on our house on Monday). I do love them both very much (don't think that needs to be said), but I really do enjoy this alone time. I'm going to put the prices right on (DVR'd this morning lol) and make some lunch. ooh how nice it will be to watch a whole show uninterrupted and not have to share my lunch!

  • I am more and more feeling like I have no desire to try to BF this time around. I had some issues last time (mostly low supply issues).  My sister had her baby on Sunday and she's working on nursing. I thought I was just in panic mode from watching her, but I really do think I just don't want to. I know it wouldn't be the end of the world, but I'm afraid I may feel guilty if I don't at least try. WithT my supply was low, so by 2 weeks old we were already supplementing. I stopped nursing by 7 weeks and pumped and formula fed until 5 months old (I pumpped instead of nursing to save my sanity...). With a toddler I'm just not sure I'm willing to commit to all that :/

  • Between 3rd tri tiredness and my long shifts I have been closing my eyes while with A. He wakes between 6 and 630 my shift starts at noon so around 9 I usually lock us up in the guest bedroom where all his books are and he plays looks through his books while I lay on the futon for 30 min with my eyes closed. I don't know what I will do when he figures out how to turn doorknobs. Only happens about once or twice a week depending on how my shifts are laid out. Otherwise I totally nap when A does on my days off.

Oh and tiffanyp we are dreading breaking A of the iPad and iPhones my mom just had surgery so we have been visiting and helping out around her house but to keep A occupied in a non child proofed house I give him either of those to occupy him since they last longer than any toy we have there. It is then melt down city when I take it away. :(

  • I used this one on Parenting Board, but...

As much as I"m ready to be done and hate being the military, I'm quite ready for my two weeks AT. I'm ready to be away from H and P for just a little bit.

Last year I suffered heavily from PPD and they kept me close buy helping at the unit for an inspection so I was able to go home every other day to see her.

This year, I'm going to do the same thing as last time but I don't think I'm going to go home as much, and I'll actually be able to drink some since I'm off my meds.

I feel a tinsy bit guilty but, not really.

I do that all the time.  I onlt really change them if a) she pees through her pjs, which almost never happens, or b) I notice the cats sleep in there lots & I can see cat hair.  lol.  I'm such an awesome mom.  haha

I had the same feelings except in my situation O didn't latch and I ended up pumping. I hated EP, I felt liked I missed so much having to take the extra time to do it. I decided I would give it a go this time and see what happened. If it didn't work out we'd do formula no regrets, like you there is no way I'd try to pump with a toddler. Having a plan and knowing different outcomes really helped. I got lucky, G does awesome but if we'd had to use formula I'd have been ok.

  • I think we've been watching too much tv lately too.  We came down the stairs from getting socks, and P says, "noodle!"  Well, Mr. Noodle was doing sumshit on SS.  Oh, I see kid.

I'm getting her early today & we're going to the park.  lol.  NO TV!  Well, until we get home & I need to make dinner.  haha

  • Mine is also day care related...today is the last day of school/work/day care for the summer. I got out of "work" at 830...did some errands, went to my summer job to check in for about 1 1/2 hours and then did more errands. Now I'm home, having lunch, cleaning, doing laundry, bumping and packing for our weekend away....much easier while DS is at day care! I could have picked him up early but then I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much done, right?

I think a switch went on somewhere inside DS where he went from having zero interest in TV to being a full-on couch potato overnight. He turns the TV on & off by himself. That was a battle I admit defeat to! and now he's so spoiled with shows, if there's a commercial, he's like "mama? Nooo!" & keeps saying it while shaking his head until either I change the channel or the show comes back on.

He'll do the same thing if a show that he doesn't like comes on. I now know he doesn't like Bob the Builder, Arthur or Charlie Rose, lmao. Charlie Rose comes on PBS at like 5 & he freaks out haha!

  • In comment to the TV situation, we've been watching way too much also.  When I turn it off, Nate says, "Uh-oh!"  :)

I thought of a good one when someone mentioned bras.  I own ONE.  Yes, one bra.  I could only find one nursing bra I liked and I never got around to getting a second one.  I wear and wash constantly and it's starting to fall apart.  Bra shopping is on my list...if I ever get to it.  Now that I'm pregnant again, I'm not sure if I want to search for a "real" bra or just buy nursing bras.  I'm still nursing LO a little...  Either way, I'll probably have to order it online in the end.  *sigh*

  • I have been letting Griffin play on my phone and watch a lot of TV lately because I've been so busy making cake pops (side job) that I just don't have time to play with him 24/7 and the phone makes him happy. Now he's fully addicted though. If he even sees my phone, he begs for it. Another habit we'll eventually have to break him from..
