Going in pool without swim diapers?

It's been reaching 100 the past few days where I live and today will be no different. My daughter is 7 months and my apartment complex has a pool so I would like to take her. Problem is I don't have any swim diapers and me and my hubby share a car and he's at work so can't go buy any until he gets out later tonight.  I don't NEED to go to the pool but just wondering if there's any other options out there? I was thinking of just going to dip her feet in. Thanks in advance!

  • You could do it, but with my luck, the second I did that DS would have nasty massive diarrhea all over the place.

  • You could go. Maybe just plan on dipping her feet. I took LO last week and carried him around in the water. He was not a fan. We let him sit on one of the steps with us and he didn't really know what to think. Good luck!

  • I wouldn't do it. If she poops in the pool the complex will have to drain the whole thing and lean it, then refill...most pools have a policy that requires swim diapers.

  • I have an iPlay swim diaper and it came with a list of states where it's illegal not to put one on LO. I wouldn't do it, that is pretty gross and inconsiderate to other users of the pool.

Just go to Wal Mart and buy some Huggies swim diapers.

  • Don't do it!!! Lol, it's been super hot this week and I'm waiting for the swim diapers to arrive from Amazon- so I took baby's bathtub outside and let her go for a swim (in bathing suit, without diaper). After about 10 minutes of pleasantly splashing around I heard the telltale sound and sure enough little splotches of poo starting drifting through the water. GROSS!!!! And that was just in the bathtub, I can't imagine how disgusting it would be in an actual pool...

  • I would dip LO's feet in the pool. Although LO has never pooped in the pool (fingers cossed he does not) I only take him in with swim diapers because DH would be very unhappy if he had to drain the pool and refill it.

  • Is there a lifeguard? Will anyone stop you? I would just take her in for a quick dip, but that's just me!

I would take her in in a regular diaper. It would get really soggy and heavy, but at least it would contain poop.

  • Just dip her feet in and keep a regular diaper on.
  • I'm confused.... why do you need to bring your LO outside in this heat? Stay inside where it is cool.
  • I would not go in the pool without a swim diaper. I agree that just staying inside might be the best option.

I have to agree!  If it's going to be hot all week, it's not too much to wait until tonight when your DH gets home with the car for you to go get the swim diapers.

The nastiest thing I ever saw when I lived in an apartment complex with a pool was a girl not quite finished with potty training who had poop on her undies trying to climb into the pool with her friends.  It was GROSS/NASTY!  Please be considerate of others and don't take your LO until they have the swim diapers!!  If you want to do the "swim" thing, like a PP mentioned, take the baby tub outside or purchase one of the baby blow up swimming pools that are $10 - the rest of the apartment dwellers there will appreciate you for it!! (plus it'll be safer for your LO)

  • I did it the other night because I forgot a swimmers, no big deal just got a fat diaper afterwards full of water.  I use the swimmers all the time if i have them but this was a one time deal.

I agree. I get that its hot, but you have to be considerate of the other people in the pool.
