Just wondering if it is true that each labor is quicker than the next. I'm on my third. The first delivered in about 8 hours after arriving to the hospital, the second about 6 hours, 1 push. So I am just wondering if I should expect this one to come even quicker. I know they say all births are different, but just wanted to hear some personal experiences with this one. Thanks!
Re: NON first time mommies delivery questions...
I've been told this too!
I'm only about to have baby 2 so can't help you there but my grandmother had 4 children and each of her labor/deliveries were quicker and easier. I'm hoping for the same!
#1 was 17 hours
#2 was 7 hours
#3 was 20 hours
It all has to do with positioning of the baby for me. #1 and #3 were OP, which meant longer labors.
I'm on my third and was told the same from midwives and everyone. My two friends and two family members who had 3 already went this way...
Friend #1 - 1st: about 24 hours, 2nd: 5 hours, 3rd: (premie at 33 weeks) 5 hours
Friend #2 - 1st: 20 hours, 2nd: 8 hours, 3rd: 6-7 hours
Family #1 - 1st: 4 hours, 2nd: 7 hours, 3rd: 14 hours
Family #2 - 1st: 20 hours, 2nd: 14 hours, 3rd: 8 hours
Personally, my first was about 14 hrs active labor, 2nd was 6 hrs active labor and for this 3rd, I'm really hoping it's closer to 6.
...baby #3 is here...
I'm having #2, so I can't say from experience, but my mom had four natural births and just last night was assuring me that each one would get easier. I know they did for her.
Personally, I'm trying not to count on that. I'm sure there are a lot of things that could come into play that would make my labor longer this time (was 15 hours, 50 minutes of pushing with DD).
All the same, I'm still hopeful!

I've been told this too.
DD1 was 30 hours all up, 7 hours active labour. Pushed for an hour and a half.
DD2 was 11 hours all up, 2 hours active labour with 6 pushes.
I kinda hope that any future children aren't faster because DD2 only really gave me just enough time to really settle into what was going on.
