Is this ok?

Sudafed is but I have te Safeway brand nasal decongestant PE. The active ingredient is phenylephrine.. is this safe to take?

  • Yes I am taking it right now after the ok from my doc yesterday. It makes a world of a difference!

  • Just don't expect it to work. Phenylephrine does NOT help congestion, it has been proven to do no such thing when taken in pill form. As a spray, it can help. But the companies started putting it in medication as a placebo when pseudoephedrine (the stuff that ACTUALLY works) had to go behind the counter. This "PE" crap shouldn't be sold because it's about as effective in clearing congestion as eating a Pop Tart. It's not harmful, but it's false advertising. Other things that may be in pills, like acetaminophen and what have you, can help you feel better. You can google "phenylephrine doesn't work" for a whole slew of things.
