Pumping at work after 1 year?

I'm going to be starting a new job soon and I'm still nursing LO. Due to the time I spent away from her before, I was pumping 3x at work. She is starting to naturally wean, but is still nursing, so I will still need to pump at least 1 time at work in order to make the transition smoothly to just morning/night feedings- I was hoping to pump during my 30 minute lunch. The problem is, with the new job, there isn't an immediate place for me to pump unless I use someone's office or the bathroom (I know because I had a day long interview, and pumped during the lunch hour, but used someone's office that they vacated momentarily). If your baby is over 1 year of age, does a workplace have to find a place for you to pump, or is it at their discretion? The car isn't an option due to the workplace environment and the fact it will be super hot out. TIA!

    https://m.ncsl.org/issues-research/health/breastfeeding-state-laws.aspx Unless your state has more protective laws than federal laws, I'm pretty sure they only have to accommodate you through one year. I would inquire with HR though; based on your interview experience they sound pretty accommodating. My work has been very good, I'm still pumping 1-2 times a day. My DS is 13 mo.

    in our area, as long as you still nurse, theyd have to allocate a space for you to pump. GL

    Federal law says no. State laws, however, are often worded in a way that protects your rights as long as you want, so look into that.

    Also, if it turns into a big ordeal and you don't have rights - consider doing cow's milk during the day and still nursing when together. It's been working out well for us. DS isn't ready to wean, but he's fine with sippies of cow's milk during the day. I give you tons of credit for pumping past a year! I didn't have it in me.

    Thank you all so much! I knew the Federal laws said no, but I will check into the link that a PP put in their post......if they won't accommodate me, I may have to wean from the pump, even if it is in a 2 stall bathroom (ugh).  I won't be able to make it through an 9 hour day without pumping once, since I was pumping 3x before.

    Will you be close to your car? Not ideal, for sure, but a nursing cover and the 9V adapter to plug into the cigarette lighter would be a lot nicer and more sanitary than a bathroom stall.

    ETA: nevermind, you already said the answer in the OP. My bad!

    I went from nursing on demand - probably 3-4 x during the day - to being at work for 9 hours and I chose not to start pumping at a year.

    Odds are you can either go cold turkey or just pump once a day for a week and be fine, if you choose to do cow/goat milk by day. We just do WCM at daycare and he nurses when I get home, off and on until bedtime, and 1-3 x overnight... and in the morning. He's still getting lots of breast milk and only really takes 2-4 oz of WCM a day.

    It gets easier to drop pumping as the baby is older. Unless you've had problems with mastitis previously, I wouldn't worry.

    If you WANT to keep pumping, as for a place of course. I didn't want to pump.

    Our company policy guarantees break time and space for up to 2 years PP. I will not be pumping for that long, but I think it's awesome that our policy grants that much time. Can you check with HR? Your company policy may be more generous than state law.

    I would just ask your new company where you can pump regularly, and not even mention that your baby is over 1.  I work in HR and I don't even know that federal law was 1 year.  If a new employee came to me and asked about mother's room accomodations, I wouldn't ask how old the baby is.  If it becomes an issue, then you may have to bring up the law.  It sounds like they're very accomodating, since they let you pump during your interview and still offered you the job!
