DD is a tummy sleeper!

I feel like I've had an epiphany. DD would only sleep good if she is on our chest. At night she sleeps fine in her swaddle, but during the day we could maybe get 20 minutes if we put her kind of sideways in the swing. I had to put her down for a minute, and decided to try tummy time on the floor, and she was so content! Now, she is napping in her crib, so good! I'm checking on her a bunch, but she is happy. Has anyone had any discoveries about your LO that have made life easier or quieter?

  • Good for you for finding what works!!

We started swaddling LO differently and the first night we did it was the first night she ever STTN! Woohoo!

  • I know I'll come off as a total bitxh by mentioning this, but just because I feel like it should be said. Sorry.

Back is best for sleep. Tummy sleeping is associated with an increased risk of SIDS.

Having said that, you are her parent and it's your choice to make.

Yes, thank you for reminding everyone that the tummy is not recommended.

I would never put her to bed at night on her tummy, when I am not nearby to watch over her. She is swaddled and on her back at night, no matter what. I have been in the same room with her, folding clothes, bumping, etc., just giving my arms a rest.

This should go under the category of "don't try this at home." :)

I'm pretty sure she clearly mentioned that she's checking on her LO a bunch, which would make me come to the conclusion that she knew she would get some redundant responses like yours. Glad you could be the first to burst her bubble.

Does it make you feel better about yourself to be a *** to me? Because I wasn't trying to be mean, And I don't  think she took it that way either.

    Thanks for that.

I'm glad you mentioned this.  There are still lots of people out there who think tummy sleeping at night isn't dangerous.  Napping is one thing if somebody is awake in the room, but at night alone is a whole different scenario.

  • Thats great! I am one of 5 and my mom said all of us loved sleeping on our tummies and would sleep so much better! I think it is perfectly safe and fine for her to sleep like that and you keep checking it will make mommy and baby happy ;)  I also found that swaddling during naps doubles the amount of time my ds stays asleep
