1st Trimester

OB switcharooo

I had a miscarriage in February and was being seen by my regular obgyn. Now that I am pregnant again, I have had a ton of blood tests and one ultrasound at 6 weeks. When I called the office to schedule these, my ob's nurse handled everything and needless to say I thought I was being seen by my doctor. I called the office today to schedule 1st check up and was informed that my doc stopped taking on patients in may. I am really hormonal and upset. Went ahead and made appt with another female doc in same practice.

Has this happened to anyone else? Advice?

I am sorry I had sometime kind of like that happen with my third. I was seeing my doctor, went in for my 36 wk appt and she said next appt we would go over a bunch of things. The next day I get a call to set up my induction at 38 weeks, and I said I didn't want to be induced, and she said ok. So I thought maybe they mixed me up with someone else. So My water broke at 36 wks 5 day, I never made it to my appt. At the hospital they asked who my ob was, I told them and they told me she doesn't deliver on nights and weekends! The other OB she works with told me she tell people at the 37 week appt and sets up inductions. I had no idea I had to ask her if she delivered nights and weekends it just never crossed my mind. I am sorry you have to switch, maybe you will like your new provider better!

Sorry, lurking here, but holy sh!t.  The woman picked the WRONG profession.  Outrageous.

  • At our hospital there are about 6 obs and a couple of those natural type doctors too. What that office does is have you see someone different almost every appointment so that you know each and every one of them. They don't know their schedules that far in advance or who is going to be on call when you deliver and they want you to know and have delt with each one at some point in your pregnancy. I know it would be nice to have the same doctor and I would also hate them switching me spur of the moment like what happened to you but I would look on the positive side... Atleast you are early in your pregnancy that you will have time to get to know and feel comfortable with your new doctor. Cheer up and think happy thoughts!
  • I also agree that this is crazy! That is so late and not what you are wanting to hear at that time! I would write them and let them know how you feel about that. My hospital sends out surveys about your experience with the hospital for whatever it is that you have done.... ex. birth, surgery, test...etc. If they don't have anything like that I would for sure let them know what you thought/felt about her not giving you all of that *very important* information!

Im a truly sorry that this happened to you. however Look on the bright side at least you didnt go to see her a few times and then she pulls that card. You may even like the other OB much more anyways :)

I do not have much experience with Rotating doctors. I have always had private practice doctors and I would go crazy if this happened to me. Also what Ob doesnt work night or weekends? LOL

What in the world?! WHAT OB doesn't deliver nights and weekends? Bet she doesn't deliver 95% of her patients!

If you knew how lonely my life has been And how long I've been so alone And if you knew how I wanted someone to come along And change my life the way you've done
