2nd Trimester

Wedding playlist.

Sooo I'm coming up with a wedding playlist of songs that we want played by the dj at the wedding, and my mind is on slow motion right now. What songs did you guys play at your wedding and/or what are your favorite songs? Our first dance song is between Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse and Unbelievable by Josh Gracin...

Help is appreciated Smile

Re: Wedding playlist.

  • These were the slow songs we asked our DJ to play - some were designated as special songs (cake-cutting, mom/son first dance, bridal party dance, etc.)

U2 ? ?All I Want Is You? (omit the secret song)

Bryan Adams ? ?Everything I Do?

Chris DeBurgh ? ?Lady in Red?

    Journey ? ?Faithfully?

    Lonestar ? ?Amazed?

Rascal Flatts ? ?Bless the Broken Road?

Van Halen ? ?Love Walks In?

    Eric Clapton ? ?Wonderful Tonight?

Norah Jones ? ?Come Away With Me?

Peter Cetera ? ?The Glory of Love?

Jay & the Americans ? ?This Magic Moment?

Mel Carter ? ?Hold Me, Thrill Me?

Shania Twain ?Forever and For Always? (not Calypso-ish version!)

Leanne Womack ?I Hope You Dance?

Edwin McCain ?These Are the Moments?

  • Haha, I just realized you asked for all the songs, not just slow songs... if you want I can send you the full list, I think we had about 50 songs on there though!!!
  • i LOVE hurricane waters by citizen cope
  • We didn't come up with a playlist of every single song we wanted, just the main ones.  We told our DJ we like a good mix of 90s and current music, and told him nothing with offensive lyrics since there were lots of children at the reception (I specifically didn't want "Let's Get It On").  Some of the songs we requested at the wedding were: Open Arms (Journey), At Last (Etta James), Here and Now (Luther Vandross), Livin on a Prayer (Bon Jovi).

If you want you can do that! lol. We're going to have a pretty wide variety of people as far as ages and I'm trying to get outside opinions. I love most of your songs so far though!

And we're not giving them a strict list of every song. We're just looking for a core list and then having him mix everything else into it. I don't want any gangster rap or anything like that, and I'm glad you said you specifically asked for them not to play Let's Get It On because I HATE that song.

  • My main list was of songs not to play, and there were over 100 on it. Our DJ hated me.

  • Here was our list:

Introduction of wedding party & bride/groom:  Ozzy Osbourne/Crazy Train

Cake Cutting - Pour some sugar on me

Garter Toss - MC Hammer/You Can't Touch This

Bouquet Toss - It's Raining Men

    Bride/Groom dance - Norah Jones/Come away with m

Father Daughter - Steve Tyrell/The Way You Look Tonight

    Mother/Groom - Trace Adkins/Then They Do

    Wedding Party - Jounrey/Faithfully

We also put a few others on there.  Do they have a playlist to choose from?  The DJ was awesome - but I wish their list was longer, there were some requests that they couldn't fill.

    First Dance- Into The Mystic

    Mother Son- Greatest Fan

    Father Daughter- My Little Girl

Brother Sister- Treat Her Like a Lady

Cake Cutting- Pour Some Sugar on Me

    Garter Toss- Man Eater

Bouquet Toss- Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind

We had a Beatles cover band and a DJ so we made sure to give each a lst do do and dont play's

  • In my Married Bio is a link to my Planning Bio and I believe I posted the full reception play list under the Reception section - we played mostly oldies and standards, not sure if that is your style but maybe it'll give you a few ideas :)

Bwahahaha, me too. He had a hate on for me but too damn bad, for $800 for six hours, I do NOT want to hear the chicken dance, cotton eye'd joe and various other ear bleed inducing songs.
