Timing of Induction Question

Quick question about induction...so at my last appointment I had my membranes stripped and I was about 2 cm dilated at 70% effaced. Since Sunday I have also been passing what I'm pretty sure it my mucus plug. I'm officially "due" on Sunday. My next appointment is on Monday (40w 1d) for another internal check, membrane stripping (yay!), NST, and fluid check. At that point my OB has mentioned they will let me go one additional week and schedule an induction for July 2nd. At that point I would be (41w 1d). They have mentioned that they are a little concerned that he is getting big as his movements are slowing, etc. and are concerned that I will struggle if he gets too much bigger.
Wow, that was long, onto my question...how soon is too soon? Should I let him cook until 42 weeks and just hope that he decides to make an appearance on his own? Thanks in advance!

i am exactly the same as you, 2-3cm, 75% effaced. due monday. my next appt wouldnt be until wednesday though and she was going to measure for weight (he seems big) and schedule an induction at the end of THAT week if i so desire. (he is about 8 lbs right now if US is correct) My daughter was 8 lbs and i had trouble w/ her.
I have been having pains last night and today and am afraid of having pro-dromal labor again like i did with my daughter so i called today to see if i should be seen before the weekend.
If i go see her tomorow and she offers to induce me tomorrow night (shes on call at the hospital tomorrow night) (i'll be 39w4d) I think i might take it.
I just dont think hes going to come on his own (DD didnt) so why wait another week for another 1/2-1lb of baby? and have prodromal labor all weekend/week? i know this isnt popular thought but its just what i am thinking at this moment... none of these decisions are easy.... i am not sure exactly what i will do.
the prodromal labor EXHAUSTED me with last child and i wasnt able to give much effort at labor and delivery as i hadnt eaten or slept in 2 days.
This is likely a silly FTM question, but what is prodromal labor?
it's just painful labor contractions that arent progressing.... its like being in the very first stage of labor but for days and days and they don't get any much progressive. They arent that bad right now but i just fear that over the weekend they will be like it was with DD. i couldnt sleep or lay down or anything with her... and when i finally went to the hospital they wanted to send me home because they werent progressing even though i was in alot of pain. luckily my dr convinved them to let me stay last time (i was 9 days overdue) and they just moved me along w/ a little pitocin....but i wonder how long or if my body EVER would have moved to the next stage.... UHG.
