To quickly sum up my story! Got pregnant twice naturally but both ended in miscarriages and both pregnancies occurred a year apart from one another! Just did 3 iuis all 3 bfn! do I move to ivf? Re said its our decision but its so tough any advice?
It's really not a decision anyone can make for you but you. And I can't even say what I'd do without knowing more details regarding testing you've had done, diagnosis, etc.
For me, I've had 2 miscarriages and an ectopic. If I have another ectopic I'll be moving on to IVF. But if I had another miscarriage I wouldn't necessarily be so quick to jump to IVF, I'd probably give IUI a few more tries.
There's so many things that go in to the decision. We jumped to IVF after 2 failed IUI's due to insurance reasons, since we're lucky enough to have coverage for a couple cycles. I honestly don't know how we will make these kinds of decisions if/when we hit the OOP point. Best of luck in making a decision that works for you.
Married 6/08, TTC 7/09
MC w/ D&C 3/11 ~ 9.5 weeks
CP/MC 1/12 ~ 5 weeks
2 IUI's w/ BFN
IVF 6/12 ~ 8R, 0F ~ Rescue ISCI gave us 3dt of 2 (6 cell, 9+ cell)
I think it's ridiculous that most insurances don't cover this but cover multiple iuis instead which have a higher chance of multiples and could be more costly for them in the end and success rates are lower!
I think I thought bc I got pregnant naturally twice that iui would immediately work but after 3 attempts with injectibles I'm really doubting giving it a 4th try- I'm confused as to why it's not working!
Like other ladies have stated, this is something that you have to decide. This is somethign that you should sit down with your SO and your Dr. Figure out a plan that works for you guys. When s/he thinks it would be a good time to switch over. Sit down and find out from your insurance if you where to switch over to IVF what all if any would they pay for. From the blood work to the meds. But either way make sure everyone is on the same page
