Question for you, regarding weight, touchy subject, repetitive subject, blah blah blah, I know, but I'm curious.
For those of you who gained 35+ lbs during your pregnancy, how was it losing it? (If you did lose it?) Did you find BF helped? Did it take awhile to come off?
Just curious, as I'm reaching that already, and am a little nervous about losing it.
TIA!
Re: STM+, a weight question (sorry!)
It's different for everyone, you can't expect your story to match anyone elses.
I tried BF'ing and ended up switching to FF. I had gained about 40 lbs with DS and was able to fit back into my PP clothes at about 6 months PP - I'm not sure what my weight was since I didn't own a scale.
Some girls lose all the weight in a month, some girls never lose it all and will remain at a different weight after birth. Most fall somewhere in between.
Just eat healthy, stay as active as your lifestyle allows. Focus on being happy & healthy, not on a number on the scale.
ETA: My doctor told me "Nine months on, nine months off" - so I fully expected to not see final results until DS was 9 months old - which is when I got pregnant again and was weighed at the doctor's office. I was right back to where I was when I got pregnant with DS.
Thanks, I'm just nervous, because I lost 100 lbs before I got pregnant, and I'm already up 35. So I'm a bit bummed.... but I'm trying to eat as healthy as I can, although I do give in a few times a week to ice cream or a fast food meal. (No more than 2x/wk do i have one or the other.) It took me 2 yrs to lose the weight, and I was a hard core worker-outer, and now my ankles hurt by the end of the day it's hard to even want to go out walking. Just looking for support!

I hear ya. I feel the exact same way. I was getting upset about it in the beginning because I did it before, and didn't want to do it again, but have now realized it is totally out of my control. Probably the same for you. All you can really do is just stay as healthy as you can, and know that you have some work ahead of you. We will do it together
I did read that if you are able to do minimal walking during pregnancy, the weight will come off quicker. I am one to talk. I was walking every day for about 2 weeks and stopped totally. It is just way too hard and everything hurts. But, hopefully I can get back into it, even if it is like 10 minutes a day. Hang in there. You definitely have my support!
I gained 45 lbs. with my first and didn't BF. It took about 8 months for me to get comfortably back in my pp clothes, and another 6-8 months to drop another size - but I didn't do anything but chase after my son and watch what I ate. If I'd gotten my @ss in gear sooner and worked out, I probably would've dropped the weight sooner.
This time around, my weight's more in check now [gained 15 pounds in nearly 27 weeks; I was about double that last time around], but I blame that on the nausea that has just now subsided and my general aversion to food. I have signed up for two 5Ks in early 2012 that will pretty much require me to get in gear and start training after my OB clears me, and that's my motivation to kick the baby weight and get back to my pp size sooner.
Not that this is what you want to hear (and everyone is different), but I only gained 6 lb above pp weight because pregnancy "cured" a condition I have that makes it hard to lose weight...so I lost a TON then only got to 6 above pp weight.
So when I had my baby, I was below pp weight. I couldn't fit into my old pants.
In the end, it took me weighing a good 30 lbs BELOW pp weight to fit into my pp jeans, because my hips spread so much during pregnancy.
Boy, I can't wait to see what I look like after this one!
Also, I breastfed until just last month so I don't know for sure how things would have changed once I stopped, but I think breastfeeding helped me hold on to a little extra fluff. Most say it helps them lose.
I just try not to sweat it. I exercise and eat well, but I just don't care that my body won't be sculpted for a while longer yet. One day I won't have tiny ones anymore and it will be easier to get myself in shape. Granted, one day I'll get a boob reduction and lose 10 lbs easy right there.
I gained 50 pounds with each baby. I started off petite (~110, 5'3"), I just ballooned during pregnancy for no good reason at all - I was on the GD diet, so it wasn't my diet!
Losing it was a breeze, really. I mean, not like "wore my skinny jeans home from the hospital" breeze, so have realistic expectations, but within a few months I was down to about 10 pounds to lose. I didn't BF at all - we started FFing on day 1. Just the combo of being busy with a new baby, not eating much during the day, etc. I started with short walks about 2 weeks after my c/s, and worked up to longer walks with the stroller - that was really the extent of my working out until 6-7 months after baby. I did the 30 Day Shred workout when I was finally tired of those last 10 pounds and (imho) looked great after that.
I've been gaining slower this time, but will still end up at at least 40 pounds of gain. I plan to go about it the same way - watch what I eat, walk with the babies, and Shred the rest off.

I gained around 40 with DD. I'm right on track to do the same with this baby, as of yesterday I'm up 25lbs. I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight within a few weeks of having DD. I however could not fit into any of my pre-pregnancy pants until closer to 3 or 4 months. I EBF'd DD for a year.
I gained 50 and it took nearly 7 months but almost zero effort to lose it all. Yes, I was bfing.
I've always figured 9 months to gain, 9 months to lose so didn't stress too much about it.
I gained 40+ lbs my first pregnancy (20 in the last four weeks). A lot of it was water according to my OB. By one week PP i had lost half of my pregnancy weight. Other than BF and not eating any junk food I wasnt doing anything to lose the weight. I had 5 stubborn lbs that i never lost, but i stopped trying to lose weight once i got back into my pre-pregnancy clothes.
I have already gained 20lbs (as of 25 weeks) with this pregnancy and I find it depressing that I am gaining more this time, but I am making healthy food choices and trying to stay active. My OB hasnt commented on my weight, so i guess its fine. baby2 is healthy and if I have to work my butt off to be skinny again, I will!

I'm the minority here, but I gained nearly 40lbs with DS (who was 5lbs & induced because I had almost no amniotic fluid). I was skinny-average before PG with him, but within 2m I was back to pre-PG weight & under pre-PG weight from 3m on. I was eating anything & everything literally all the time.
I had only gained maybe 2lbs until a month ago because we're still nursing. I cut back to one 5 min session before bed & gained 8lbs in the span of 4 weeks. BFing made my metabolism go absolutely nuts.
