Q about ear Piercing

We were considereing having Mackenzie's ears done, but I am afraid that Alex might see them and pull on them.  He never touches my earrings though.  Any other MoMs with an opinion?

Re: Q about ear Piercing

  • Well, my guys don't have pierced ears (duh), but they do yank on each other's ears, poke each other's eyes, grab each other's noses. I imagine that if one of them had pierced ears that the other would pull on them all the time :(

  • DS yanks on DD hair bows, and pulls her piggy tails out and bites her all day. I can't imagine how bad it would hurt if he yanked on newly pierced sensitive ears. Youchy!! I am too scared to pierce them this young. They do look cute though.

  • I want to get both of my girls ears pierced as soon as the pedi will let me. I am so worried about mixing up my girls and getting them pierced with different earrings will help both me and their teachers at their day care. Silly, but it is a fear of mine.

  • Mel, don't feel silly... we have identical twins at the after school care program I work for and their counselors this summer would have them hold their hair back and say their names so they could remember who was wearing what earrings and know what to call them for the day... their mom told me the other day she still gets them mixed up sometimes and they are 7 now!

  • Mine would never stand for it. They poke/pull/prod each other all day. I think they look cute but I'm going to wait until she's older, if she wants them done.
  • We won't pierce their ears bc there is to much else to worry about. I'm not about to add one more thing to the 'to do' list :turn earrings, clean earrings, watch for infection from earrings.

I'm pretty sure we won't do it until they are old enough to ask for it. I have identical girls, and you ARE able to tell them apart. Your babies will have totally different personalities- even right when they come out. Lilly was always very quiet and shy and Molly is constantly moving, asking "wat dat, momma?" always into everything. If you're worried about teachers not being able to tell them apart, create name tags, put them in seperate classes... there are lots of things to do when the time comes.

  • Hi,

My daughter had her ears pierced at 7 months of age, she is now 8 months. Neither she nor her brother have touched them! However I was concerned he would try to pull on them since he pulls on his ears, but he doesn't seem to have even noticed them. I guess I have been lucky so far! Good luck!
