we are so lame on our anniversary

So our 4 year wedding anniversary is today and DH and I kind of forgot about it to be honest.  With the crazy beginning to our week, it kind of snuck up on us.  DH was worried to tell me last night that he didn't even get me a card yet, but was thrilled when he found out that I didn't either....LOL! 

We never do gifts, just cards and he usuallly brings home something sweet for us to eat.  This tradition started on our 1st anniversary.  We had to throw out the top to our wedding cake because we lost power for several days during Hurricane Ike.  So for our 1 year, he had the same bakery replicate the exact same top to our cake.  Last year, he brought home these awesome cupcakes from a place called Crave.  I'm at least hoping to get some dessert today....haha!

Usually we go out to a nice dinner to celebrate, but I think we will wait until next weekend when Little A is back to normal and I can feel comfortable leaving him with a babysitter.  But at least for our anniversary, we are home and healthy!

    Sometimes the simplest things have the most meaning...I think it's a great tradition!  When we got back from our honeymoon, we asked my MIL for the top to our cake because she was in charge of gathering everthing after the big day. Turned out that she and my SIL ate it while we were away, not realizing we were saving it for our first anniversary.  I was too happy at the time to be mad at her lol.

    Hehe...we forgot ours too.  DH called me and texted me that morning so when I finally remembered I figured that's what he was trying to get a hold of me for, but turns out he just wanted me to take out the trash. :-)

    Happy anniversary - hope you get some yummy dessert and I'm glad little A is feeling better!

    As long as you both are happy then that's all that matters!

    Each year we celebrate our "Legal-versary" - we got married at the courthouse on 10/30 prior to leaving for Mexico for our official ceremony on 11/9.  Due to getting married in a different country, it was just easier to have our marriage officially recognized here.  After our courthouse ceremony we went with BIL/SIL to a nice sushi/steakhouse and now every year on 10/30 we invite all of his family to come out to the same restaurant to celebrate with us!  I don't think we really ever end up doing anything on our 11/9 date!  And now we have way too many bdays in November - SS bday is 11/7, DS is 11/18 and DH is 11/29!

    Our 7th anni was 4 days after DD was born so we didn't do anything. Ordered a pizza and watched a movie. I guess we have turned a corner.

    Our anniversary was on Monday and I made meatball sliders for dinner haha- that was the extent of our celebration. Everything falls in June- Mother's Day just happened, my birthday, Father's Day, and our anniversary. We spent time together, just not much money... and I'm okay with that :)

    Do you have the cards you gave each other last year?  DH and I "recycle" the same cards from year to year and just write new messages.  Maybe for our 10 year we'll splurge and get new cards :)

    We are lame too.  For our 1st and 2nd we made an effort and went out to dinner.  For our 3rd my husband was in the middle of a terrible bout of swine flu so we didn't do anything.  Last year I was super pregnant (our anniversary is Nov 17th) and just wanted to lie on the couch all day.  This year is our 5th so maybe we will motivate ourselves to get up and do something.

    Our anniversary was a few days before LO was born. We went to our last nice dinner. I was terrified the whole time that me water would break! LOL

    Happy Anniversary! 

    I'm glad we aren't the only ones that do anniversaries low key. On our first anniversary I wanted to do the whole "paper anniversary" thing, and we each picked out a book we wanted and wrote a special note to each other. We do that every year now.
