Is Lauren too dated?

I'm back again because I can't for the life of me find a name I truly *love* for this little girl.  Big sis is Lyla Grace.  Someone suggested the name Lauren for this LO, and the more I think of it the more I like it.  MN will be June. I kind of like the idea of being able to use "Wren" as a nickname, or maybe even "Lo" like Lauren Conrad although I don't exactly love her.

Lauren June?  WDYT?

  • I don't think so. I'd consider it a modern classic.

And this is so very lame that I know this...but Lauren Conrad went by LC, her friend Lauren something else went by Lo. LOL that I knew that.

I think it's dated but I like it. There is a newborn who joined the kid's DC w/ the name and I thought 'how refreshing to see the name on a little baby'.  I like Lauren June.

Hmm, I had never thought of that.  Doesn't bother me too much; my name is Allison June.  June is a given as the middle name d/t family significance, but it's been so hard to find something to pair it with.  Sounds pretty with a lot of names but I just don't *love* any of them.

  • First of all, I love the name Lauren, and for a while considered using it if I ever had a girl, to honor my MIL Laura, however I have an uncle Lauren, and I'm not sure I'd like that connection.

Also, Lo was named 'Loren' I do believe. But I went to school with a kid named 'Lorne' and that's what loren reminds me of. A bit too masculine.

Agreed. It was popular for girls our age but not a Jennifer or Ashley so it's not overdone.

    I prefer Laurel though.

  • Very pretty and not dated!  My daughter's middle name is Lauren and her first name is Quinn, both n sounds and I think it still sounds good.  Also my niece is named Lauren Audra.

  • Lauren June is nice! I really like Lauren. It was our #2 girl pic the first time, and our top pick the second, but we had a boy. I really like it but for some reason I wasn't 100% absolutely sold. It will be on our list again this time.

  • While I don't put it in the category of "Jennifer or Heather" I do see it as a rather common name. I prefer Laurel with Lyla.

Our DD is Lauren, so I admit I was a little nervous to open your post when I saw how many replies it got.  Our baby name book called it a "new classic," which seemed about right to us.  I can think of famous "Laurens" that pre-dated the big trend in the '80s (Lauren Bacall, Lauren Hutton), so it didn't seem so stuck in a particular era to us.  I also liked that it is both a well-known name, but one will not be quite so common in DD's generation.

this for me too. But, as to your original question, I don't think it's dated, although I do prefer Laura, but I wouldn't do that bc it's too close to your other DD's name.
