Most of your kids are older than mine so PLEASE tell me there is a secret to cutting/filing their finger nails!?! I try everything including cartoons, the sacred cell phone, food, etc to distract her. She sits there and screams like she does when she gets shots and then it's a struggle to calm her down when it's over. I would just let the little weapons grow but then her/my face is all cut to sh!t. Tell me there's a secret!!! Who else is torturing their kid?
Re: How do YOU torture your child??
there is no secret. My DD still flips around like we're removing her actual fingers. I've gotten very good and baby wrestling.
DS on the other hand holds his hand out very nicely and only get irritated around the last couple nails, even then he just growls at me.

This is my siggy. Love it.
LOL, good call.
usually promises of m&m's make for easy clipping.
if not, i pin their arms with mine while they shriek very, very loudly.

What is it about Mickey Mouse Club that makes kids completely zone out? We've only recently discovered it. Weird I know.
Mine flips out and jerks his hand away quite forcefully. It's pretty much impossible. Best luck I have is in the car seat so at least he's strapped down, and I tackle one nail per stop light. I can sometimes get through one hand that way. Gotta wait til the next trip for hand #2.
I pretend like the nails fly up and hit me in the face. I say ouch each time and they love it. They think it's so funny. You might try that!
A friend of mine used to bite her kids nails as well. I could never do that but when DS was little like yours I just waited till he was asleep and then got him. Now that he is older he is able to realize it isn't scary or painful and will let me do it after bathtime.
With teeth brushing I just made up a different sound for him to make to get to each area. AHHHH is wide open and I get the back and then I tell him, "now say EEEEEE" and that is a big wide smile for the fronts and then I tell him, "now BLEHHHH" to get his tongue. He loved it and at 5 still does it.
Thank you so much!
Oh yeah this!!!
I make my grandmother do it.
DD goes over to Meme's house once a week for bang trims and nail trims.

My oldest is a nail biter too (he bites them so far down they bleed) so I haven't had to worry about his in forever.
Ive only cut DD's nails once and they bled--my eyes aren't very good and I can't see that close.
DCP cuts their nails. Seriously. I refuse to do it.
I pretend to cut mine first and I make stupid sound effects when I'm doing it. Now he thinks it's fun??!!
You're my hero. I did a combination of the above and fake sneezing and if freaking worked! Apparently, she enjoys when I act a fool. I don't know if it'll ever work again but you just got me a weeks worth of trimming done.
I totally brib her and I'm ok with it. I cut her nails maybe 1-2 times a week max and for the last 3 months (post Easter) I've been using Cadbury Mini Eggs and Jellybeans cut in half as my bribs. I tell her if we cut your toe nails you can have 1 piece of candy (1/2 a jellybean), if she starts to give me a hard time I remind her about the jellybean and then give her one once we finish. Rinse and repeat for the fingers.
It's probably bad but whatever I get her nails cut so she doesn't have little razerblade fingers and she's happy I call it a win all for the price of one measly jellybean/or chocolate egg. At your DD's age though I don't know I think I was still just pinning her down in my lap and cutting them while she went apesh*t on me.
