My ds used to be a great napper. At around 4 months I could rock him to sleep easily and then put him in his crib where he would sleep for about 2 hours. A couple weeks ago he had a bad week of teething and since then he is like a new baby. He is impossible to get to sleep. he screams, cries and fights it. he will only calm down with a bottle, even if he is not ready to eat. I will sometimes give him a small bottle to calm to but as soon as it is done he cries. Then once he is asleep, he wakes after about 20 minutes.
I use white noise (humidifier). He will not use a pacifier. He sleeps great at night, but is being so difficult during the day. I wouldn't mind the short naps, but he fusses when he is awake so I cant get anything done.
Suggestions? Anyone go thru something like this?
Re: Getting worse at nap time?
I had a hard time with naps for about a month. My DS sleeps great at night too. I figured out that he really thrives on routine. His bed time routine was always EXACTLY the same and at the same time of day.
So I started a nap time routine. I feed him (recently, I have been successful waiting an hour after feeding too) and bring him in his room, read him a book and put him down. Now he goes right to sleep every time.
Another thing I must mention...I wake him up everyday at the same time, and he has his naps every day at the same time. They differ in length but I guess he is the kind of baby that likes a schedule.
