I have another glucose test tomorrow. The first time for me was about 14 weeks, I have a history of diabetes on my mom's side of the family so they tested early. It was a surprise test to me. I walked in for my normal check up and they asked if I had time. I passed with flying colors.
Tomorrow I take the 1 hour again and was told not to fast, eat normal, blah, blah, blah. I'm wondering what I should do about dinner tonight...if I should just go about it normal or watch? Today is DH's birthday so there will be dinner out and cake and ice cream...what's a girl to do?
Re: Should I eat the cake and ice cream?
I would have the cake and ice cream if it was the night before but not the day of.
I had slightly high results when I did my test but I tested after having cookies and iced tea so it could be why I had slightly high results.

This.
Go for it.
But tomorrow before your test, I'd fast (if it's a morning appointment). Or at least stay away from carbs and sugar if it's an afternoon appointment.
My midwife said that even though fasting is not a requirement, she sees girls just barely fail the test ALL the time for this reason. And then you have to go back for the 3 hour and pretty sure you have to fast for that one anyways.
I'd bury my face in it and eat my way to the bottom...ugh, I have such a ridiculous sweet tooth now.
Anyway, yes, eat and enjoy it!!
I had a little ice cream the night before my test. I did have a healthy breakfast though - scrambled eggs and a piece of whole wheat toast. I passed no problem.
I don't think changing your diet for a few days will change how your body processes the sugar at the test.
This! It's not going to affect your levels the day before. Enjoy.
Ok ladies, you've convinced me...I'm eating the cake & ice cream!
