Dominic Lawrence has arrived!!

Dominic Lawrence was born 6/14 at 3:03 pm. I was originally scheduled for an induction on the 15^th, but Wednesday night at 10:30 my water broke! My husband and I had just got to bed, and it was time to go. We were so excited, and nervous. We got to the hospital around 11:30pm and by 12:30 I was able to get an epidural, which was amazing. I was very nervous about it, but surprisingly it did not hurt at all. I had contractions all night, but thankfully could not feel them. The next day 6/14 I was checked and was still only at 2cm, I was given pitocin and within 2hrs went from 2-10cm. By noon it was time to push?I pushed and pushed and he was stuck. Our boy was sunny side up, and his head was in an awkward position. After pushing for 3.5 hrs the doctor said other measures were necessary to help me deliver. They used forceps as a last resort to a c-section. 6 pushes later Dominic Lawrence was born. It was by far the best moment in my and husbands life. My husband was so incredible and supportive throughout the whole process, and I just concentrated on his voice to help me through all the pain I was enduring, at one point the pain was so bad it felt like I was having an outer body experience. I could not have done it without him. When Dominic was born he was not breathing and all of a sudden a team of people arrived to work on him. It was the scariest moment of our lives. Thank God he was ok, and was observed in the NICU for 6 hrs. It was difficult for me not to see my little guy right after birth, and finally at 8pm that night they brought him back to us.

One of the hardest parts I have endured to far is the healing process after delivery. I wish someone would have given me a little insight as to what happens. My advice to the ladies who have not delivered yet is to take stool softeners now and perhaps a laxative....because pooping when your stitched is no fun and can be painful. Also, take your pain medicine...i hate medicine but it has been a life saver.
