Time for one of the 'fun' weekly posts. Here's hoping this week's UO doesn't explode like last weeks FFFC.

My UO is I totally judge teenagers who intentionally try to get pregnant. I'm not blaming girls who were raped or accidentally got pregnant or anything like that, but there are teenage girls out there who try to get pregnant on purpose. It isn't 'cool' to have a baby while still in school. I wish more schools did programs to show teenagers just how hard it is on them.

I HATE when people abbreviate in text messages. Is it really that hard to type 'y-o-u'?! Come on now! And on that note, I completely judge people who use bad grammar.

I dont think it is that big of a deal when I keep DS out past his bedtime. I realize some are sticklers for theirs, but if he is going to be up an hour later the sun will still rise tomorrow (and he will just take extra naps).

Ughh I totally agree. I couldn't even imagine doing this as a teenager. I would have lost my frickn mind!

I absolutely, unequivocally, and wholeheartedly believe in mothers having "me" time. I spend all day, every day with my DD, and while I love her to pieces, I need a break.

Next weekend I'm going to Atlantic City for one night with some girlfriends and I feel no guilt whatsoever about leaving the sprout home with her dad. When I mentioned this to an acquaintance, who has a baby around around the same age, she was aghast that I could spend a whole day and night away from my daughter. I'm rather aghast that she can't.

I totally have no problem with toddlers still using a pacifier. It's filling a need the child obviously still has. I've never personally had this issue since my kids weren't pacifier fans, but my oldest did suck her thumb until she was 6. She gave it up when she no longer had the need.

I totally judge people who do not follow carseat guidelines. I don't think it's anything to play with. One of my high school friends posted a pic on fb of her LO in a regular seat belt and he is only 8 months. I deleted her!

I do NOT think its a BFD if certain organizations don't want to pay for your BC. Now, outlawing BC altogether would be another story and the pill for legit medical conditions such as PCOS is different than for BC purposes. I'm not saying its smart on the insurance companiy's part, but if you choose to work for a religious institution suck it up and pay for your own BC....that said i left thecatholic churchyears ago because i dont agree with much of their doctrine....but i respect their right to have it.

I totally agree about the action around here! It was nice to see some activity.

My UO: I do not love summer. I'm seriously the palest person I know and I hate the hot. This is clearly complicated by the fact that I live in the South and it's 90 degrees well past 8 pm. I seriously try to get all outside activity accomplished by 10 am and then I seek out any and all air conditioned situations. And really there isn't a snowball's chance in hellll that I'd be seen in a swimsuit! Maybe after my lose 30 for 30 (I'm turning 30 this year) is complete I will put on a swimsuit next year. It would be the first time in probably 5 years I wore one... I wish I lived in SanFran or the Pacific Northwest... you guys have the best weather!!

I'm going to respectfully piggyback off your uo....mine is that people think that schools are responsible for teaching life lessons instead of parents. The state does not raise your child, you do. And although I'm sure you know this op, successful state programs only work when the basics are taught at home! **steps off soapbox**

Im somewhat torn on this issue. On the one hand, I can understand why a Catholic institution would not want to pay for birth control since it goes against their doctrine. On the other hand, I think the brouhaha about it from the Republicans was not without a certain degree of slut shaming; especially considering there was no such uproar about making institutions pay for things like Viagra. Although, one could make the argument that the former prevents "life" and the latter helps create it.

Intersting to think and debate about.

That being said, I think I fall into the camp of making institutions pay for birth control since many, many women use it for reasons other than pregnancy prevention and it does create a hardship if it isn't covered by insurance. As to the idea of simply not working at an institution that doesn't cover it, sometimes it isn't so simple as that. In this economy, you sometimes have to take what you can get.

I can't stand my inlaws. I try to be pleasant around them, but I have zero desire to see them. We only see them about 1x per month, and that is plenty for me. I'm pretty sure they hate us for it, but I don't really care!

I agree about the bedtime, once a week we go out for dinner, it's a needed break and LO comes with...though he usually sleeps through it all anyway, but yes sometimes I need/want to be out past 8 and I think that's perfectly fine.

My MIL told me not to let DD suck her thumb because one of MH's cousins sucked her thumb until she was 15 (no lie). I had to restrain myself from telling her to suck something else because this cousin is a super special case... all sorts of emotional trauma going on over there. My 4 month old sucking her thumb is a non-issue.

Sorry if I'm extra mean today...my husband lost his job today and we are FREAKING out about how we'll manage until he finds another one in this crappy economy....

My UO is that people who keep popping out kids and then b!itch and moan about how they have no money and can't go do things or have nice things or pay for college or whatever p!ss me the f off. Newsflash morons: kids cost a LOT of money and if you can't afford cable you probably can't afford your 3rd or 4th or 5th kid. I know who think oh what a blessing and God will provide and all that crap. Is God really going to come down from the heavens and provide a job, food, shelter, etc? Good luck with that.

It always cracks me up when people say "don't let kids do xyz" like suck their thumbs. What are you going to do, cut it off? I know things can be discouraged but if they want to suck their thumb, they're going to!

Mine is my mom (mind you shes FULL of the WORST parenting advice ever!! All.the.time!!) this week, the other day comes to me and tells me that "now DD is crawling you need to stick her in a play pen all day every day" (her exact words!)- Its called no, "play pens" like in the 1980s don't even exist anymore, they are pack n plays and they are ONLY used for sleeping purposes like if you are on a trip or something, and its called there is such an invention as the BABY GATE so your LO can roam freely and protected around your house which is what we are already doing!! I am NOT going to confine my DD to a frickin pack n play 9 hours a day!! Thats insane and cruel!! Mind you, this is the same woman who encourages me on a weekly, if not daily, basis to rub DD's gums with rum or beer b/c thats what she did to me when I was teething!! Ugh ugh ugh I wish she lived in another state instead of the same area!! Okay, end rant...
