  • Not that it's not understandable to wish you were obviously pregnant but I'm sort of confused by what people on this board think IS an acceptable thing to say to pregnant women. There are angry posts about people thinking you're too far along, angry posts about people who can't tell, angry posts basically in general. Personally, I think it's sort of silly to be annoyed that people can't deduce the exact state of your uterus by looking at you. I have 8 weeks to go and hear "any day now!" basically every day and it has never bothered me. What does it matter what a stranger thinks about your body anyway? You know you're pregnant, I know I'm a totally normal size for 32 weeks, it really doesn't matter.

  • To the person that asked what was appropriate to say... personally I think saying something universially flattering like you look great or pregnancy certainly agrees with you or you have that pregnancy glow, or you and your baby look wonderful, etc are safe things to say.   Anything that comments on teh size of the bump I personally avoid.   I would not normally comment on the size of someone's stomach or arms, etc when they are not pregnant, I would just say a nice general compliment, so I do the same for pregnant women.  This is just my opinion however:)

  • i was just cranky... i dont expect anyone to know that im pregnant or how far along. I was at the gas station and the guy checking me out made a joke about me buying apples, he asked why i didnt grabbed the cheetos instead?? I rubbed my belly and said that I had enough of those already (I can joke) a minute or two later he goes "ohhhh your pregnant, I didnt realize that!"  THAT annoyed me, it just seemed inappropriate and what if I was heavy? my feelings would have been so hurt. I just needed to vent about it, yesterday was not so good

  • One of my neighbours came into the parking garage and saw my husband and I sitting in the backseat of the car.  She gave us a funny look and said "what are you two doing?"

We were installing the carseat.  So we told her we were having a baby and my husband said, "I don't know if you noticed".  My neighbour said that she didn't want to say anything because she thought I was just packing on the pounds.

Really?  I'm 8 months pregnant - I thought I was past the point where people think I've just been eating too many cookies. lol

  • I am so hormonal and I've had so many people I don't know have the same conversation with me for the past five months or so that at this point any mention of my pregnancy at all is kind of annoying. It's one thing if my family is asking for recent news and another if someone I don't know is like..."How far along are you? Oh, you're really close!" I wanna be like..."yes, and I told five other random strangers the same information already today."

Basically, I understand where all of the women complaining about what people say to them is coming from. Whether it's them thinking you're just fat, to saying that you look like you're about to pop, it's all a little irksome. I swear it's the hormones, but I'm convinced that there's nothing anyone can say to me at this point that wouldn't annoy me a little.
