I have to vent

I f*cking hate lunch. This kid won't eat ANYTHING. I get so frustrated and p!ssed off and am about to lose it. How many things am I supposed to prepare? The only thing he will eat are Cheerios. He is so picky and getting worse by the day. I thought it was because he was sick, then I thought it was teeth, or maybe feeding him too close to when he woke up for his nap, but now I'm thinking I just have a monster on my hands that will chose to starve himself than eat macaroni and cheese or anything else he used to love. UGH.

I should add, the other meals aren't much better.

  • We're in the same boat, only it's cheerios and yogurt. I fear the day he is done with yogurt. We've had some luck trying to get him to taste other things this week after a few weeks of protesting everything, but yeah, meals are not a joyous occasion in this house!

  • Every meal is the same way at my house too - I use to be able to get him to eat a banana for breakfast lately he won't even touch it, and pasta at dinner use to be a sure thing, but isnt any more - basically he hates food I think.

  • To put a positive spin on it, at least he is eating something that isn't like a chocolate bar or whatever!

Hopefully its just a phase and he outgrows it soon!

We've had similar issues. I've been trying to ease up on snacks. I would sit her down for breakfast and she wouldn't eat, then 10 minutes later ask to eat and I'd give her random food all morning. Then she wouldn't eat lunch. So I'm trying to limit snacks a bit. For the day or two I did it she did eat better.

My pedi said that a normal kid will not starve himself. It's REALLY hard not to keep preparing different things or resorting to the safeties, but I'm really trying to just offer her a meal and if she doesn't eat it, let her know that mealtime is over and try again next meal. It sounds totally cruel, but she can't live on animal crackers or bread and she must eat foods that are not covered in ketchup.

I think food prep is the part of parenting I hate.

  • I think its just a toddler thing. My DS does the same thing. Today he ate like he was making up for lost time though. So it must get better.
