Will high HCG rule out an etopic?! Freaking out!

I found out I was pregnant 5 days before my missed period with a faint positive.  Tested 2 days later and the line was darker.  Tested on the day OF my missed period and the line was very dark.  So that being said, I know my hormone levels ARE increasing.

However for the past couple of days I've gotten this crampy, nasty feeling in my stomach. Under my rib cage all the way down to my pevlic area like I ate something bad.

Then today pelvic area and BACK started hurting, it feels almost sore....hard to explain.

TMI, but I went to the bathroom thinking that was it and it wasnt that, I noticed some gas and my rectum hurt a bit (like pressure, SORRY TMI again lol).

I'm worried it could be an etopic but Ive had no bleeding.  I dont know if these are normal pregnancy symptoms or if something is wrong.  But my increasing hormone levels make me believe that could possibly RULE OUT an etopic?

Thanks for all your help ladies!

  • No, increasing hormones does not rule out ectopic. If you're concerned - call your doc.  I did not have cramps during my ectopic, I had PAIN.  It sounds like you might be constipated or have gas.

I agree. And your siggy is gorgeous!

  • From what I read, you know when you have an ectopic. Like doubled over in the ER screaming pain. And your hormones would still increase like normal. FWIW I do not have an ectopic and I have frequent rectal pressure, actually my whole pelvic floor sometimes. And the back pain will probably get worse. These are normal pregnancy symptoms. Hopefully everything is fine. Call your OB tomorrow.

The pain sometimes isn't that bad. Mine started as a random pain that would go away as fast as it came, but it would make me bend forward quick to deal with it. I wasn't even going to call my OB for it but my friends talked me into it. Even when we finally discovered the embryo in my tube, I wasn't in scream-worthy pain and the doctors were amazed I wasn't since my tube was stretched to the max (I wasn't allowed to leave the hospital even though my surgery wasn't for 7 hours after my appointment, due to the risk that my tube would rupture and I'd have to be rushed in sooner).  I may be the minority, though,

  • With DS I had really bad cramping and saw my ob to rule ectopic it out. It ended up being implantation cramping. Good luck!

I took my SIL in for an ultrasound to see why she was spotting and she had an ectopic at 9 weeks- it isn't always terrible pain.  With an ectopic your HCG will increase, but in twice the amount of time it takes a healthy pregnancy.

  • Sounds normal to me, but then again I'm not a doctor so don't count on my diagnosis if you're worried.

    BFP 11/09 - DD 7/10 - BFP 8/11 - M/C 9/11 - BFP 6/12 - DD - 2/13

  • I just had similar symptoms before I found out I was pregnant and I ended up going to urgent care, they treated me for a UTI. I would go to the doctor and see if that's the problem or not. Good luck!

Well if you surprised the doctors, maybe you were. Or maybe you have a really high pain tolerance which I would be totally jealous of.
