through my FMLA short term disability plan I get a total of 12weeks with a guranteed position of equal vaule when I return.
My company short term policy is 6 weeks at 100% pay for Vag and 8 weeks at 100% pay for Csection. After that I have to take paid vacation and then unpaid time if I choose to take my full 12 weeks.

FMLA isn't short-term disability. FMLA is government-mandated leave that provides, in certain circumstances, a guaranteed equivalent job.
STD is an insurance policy that may be offered by your employer or, in some cases, in certain states. Unfortunately, my employer just went out of business. Otherwise, I would have had to use PTO for the first 5 days, then would have received 60% if salary for the rest of the 8 weeks. The state where I leave also offers an STD plan, which varies a bit based on your salary, but is capped at ~$560 per week. Your doctor requests the amount of time they think is appropriate; my doctor will put me on STD the week before the date of my c-section and keep me on it for 8 weeks.
Thanks - I asked because I just got my claim acceptance but it was only for 6 weeks, so I was wondering if my insurance was just really crappy. I called and it was a mistake and got it fixed to 8 weeks, thankfully.

6 weeks STD. (60% of my pay). That's all they allow, the extra 2 had to be approved by the doctor - I didn't need it, so it wasn't approved.
I was out on bedrest for 3 weeks (this was STD as well, separate from the PP 6 weeks) before my son was born, so I lost 3 weeks of FMLA (Since it runs concurrent with STD) ... so I had 3 weeks after the 6 weeks were up unpaid & then I took a weeks PTO/Vacation time (full pay of course) before I went back. So I was out 10 weeks total after delivery.

I live in NJ. I took 4 weeks prior to delivery, 8 weeks post (c-section) and will be taking 8 weeks on FLI, 6 which will be paid at 66%. I had to use all my sick time while in FMLA and my vacation time for FLI. After that runs out, I will be receiving STD at 66%.

through my FMLA short term disability is 12weeks, mcompany short term policy is 6 weeks at pay for natural birth and 8 weeks at pay for Csection. the percentage of payment depended on how long i was with company. After that I have to take paid vacation and then unpaid time if I want to take my full 12 weeks. I took 9 weeks off...and i felt like that was just enough for me with recovery and adjusting to everything.
In CA it is 8 weeks for a c/s or 6 weeks for vaginal delivery. You can take off up to 4 weeks before scheduled c/s or EDD, and another 6 weeks after recovery as part of paid family leave. So a total of 16-18 weeks paid at 55% of your salary non-taxed through the state. In addition you can use your own private company STD to receive benefits as well as any employer benefits or vacation time.
