Late Term and Child Loss

XP from TTCAL: A memorial for Harrison (PIP)

We finally got the memorial stone in the church cemetery for Harrison. We went there last night and left him some flowers and said good-bye again. I cried for the first time in a while, but it was nice to have somewhere to go where we can remember him.

Before we left, I took one white rose from his bouquet and put it on DH's Aunt's baby's stone. She had a loss at 20 weeks years ago, very similar story to mine and she has been a HUGE help to me dealing with everything. So little Samuel got a flower too. What's funny is they both have the same middle name - Gray. We didn't realize until we had already named Harrison. The universe is funny that way.

Just wanted to share!

  • That is so beautiful.  I really love the idea of having an actual location, a real place, where you know your son is.

We don't have a family church or cemetery, and at the time I couldn't deal with choosing some random place for our baby, so I let the hospital handle everything.  I regret that now.  I think it would be so nice to have a beautiful memorial like this.

    Thank you for sharing this.

    Hey SMBD!

I'm doing ok, had my myomectomy last week so I'm in recovery mode. They took out 22 fibroids, UGH! How are you doing? Have you done anything to remember Vivian? Are you thinking about trying again yet? Come and join us on TTCAL anytime. Many of us (like me) are TTA for medical or personal reasons.

I hope you recover quickly! 22?! GEEZ!!

I'm doing ok. I had the D&E on the 5th, only results we have so far is that 1, it was the right choice based on her condition & 2, that the placenta looked normal. Still waiting to see if we can get answers from chromosome testing.
We're not sure about memorials yet. We did pick up her ashes last weekend & it's been such a good feeling to have her home with us. It feels like when we brought the girls home from the NICUs. At first it was strange to feel that way, but now, I dont care. She's home & I'm happy about it.

I may check out TTCAL soon... I didn't think that'd be a road we went down anytime soon, but the talk has already started.
