3rd Trimester

When did you stop being able to bend over?

I was picking up DD's toys today and I realized how hard and incredibly uncomfortable and hard it was... I am not sure how much longer I can bend over... and well squatting down is worse. It seems a bit early to me... just curious, do you remember when you were no longer able to bend over?

Re: When did you stop being able to bend over?

  • I felt like w/ my first it was harder than my second or third.  My DH got me one of those arm things that you squeeze and it pinches to get something up high.  And I had resorted to kicking things to the steps on the upper floor, walk down a few steps and then retrieve the item.

With the second and third, I felt more in shape in regards to bending because I had kids to bend down all the time for.  I'm 38 weeks now and try to bend as little as possible.  I would say it started to get bad at 36 weeks.  I usually just sit and do what I need to do and then get up.

  • It's gotten quite difficult and uncomfortable this past week. It usually involves some sort of grunt or groan as well.....lol.

  • I'm 29 weeks now but it's been uncomfortable for me to bend over for a few months now. For the past two or three weeks it's just been dreadful. Imagine wincing, grunting, huffing and puffing. It's super cute.

  • I have learned to be very talented with my toes :) Picking things up and handing them to myself and such. I have a terrible time bending over probably for the last two weeks.

I have two toddlers so I am constantly picking up toys, drinks, kids, imaginary animals etc. I find now that every time I bend I have a contraction. I suppose it will get better when baby comes :)

    Good luck!

  • This has been the theme of the week for me! It's the first week I'm truly uncomfortable bending over. DH was just making fun of me the other night for how I'm trying to pick things up :) I have no problems enlisting his help- I made him wipe up the water DS spilled all over the floor this morning from the dog's bowl. I have no tolerance for little accidents like that at this point!

  • Although it isn't comfortable to be bent over picking up items for extended periods, I can still do so with a fair amount of ease.

That said, I do find squatting to pick things up easier.

  • This past week i have noticed that it is far more challenging to get my shoes on without sitting and bending my leg funny.  Also getting up from the ground is a challenge!

  • I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and I've had a hard time since a week or two ago. It sucks.

  • I noticed that I started asking the kids at work (I'm a teacher) to pick things up for me at about 33/34 weeks.  I'm 35 weeks now and it's becoming more and more difficult to clean up after my almost 2 year old!  I've been trying to get him to "help" as much as possible.  Thankfully, he likes to be a good helper! :)

  • Probably around 33 weeks. I've been pretty active this whole pregnancy but lately I feel like I cannot move.

  • I'm another one who is already having trouble bending over without huffing/puffing and being uncomfortable. I'm also already having difficulty like putting on pants! Oh noooo....

  • Yesterday in my prenatal class, I had a bottle of water on the floor and I tried to reach down for it without getting out of my chair.  My husband noticed that it wasn't going to happen, so he picked it up and passed it me, lol.

I can still bend if I have to - I find that if I widen my legs that there is more room for the belly.  It's just slow and awkward.  Squatting is easier to do, but getting back up again is starting to get harder, haha.

  • I'm glad I'm not alone. I'm approaching 27 weeks and noticed this week I'm having trouble bending over. I thought it's a bit early but guess every pregnancy is different

  • I'm 33 weeks and I'm giving it up!  Before now it was uncomfortable, but now it kinda hurts.  Plus earlier this week i bent to pick something off the floor and saw stars when I stood back up!  Sounds like a good time to quit to me lol

  • It's really uncomfortable, but I have to bend and squat all day long at work, so I haven't lost the ability yet. I do sometimes feel like my stomach is coming up through my nostrils and then I have heartburn for a while after. So, maybe that means I shouldn't be doing it, lol
