Do take your lo to story time at the library? Ive only looked at chickfia story time but it was geared to older kids. What are your thoughts. I need to get a library card.
Yup. Ours is pretty good. It's 1 month to 18 months. The librarian reads books and does songs, and finger plays (for about 15 minutes) then they pull out a big bin of toys for the kids to play with. The one we go to has three babies that are around 6 months, DD, and a girl whose closer to 18 months. It's funny because DD is stuck in the middle.
We haven't done story time, but we did a music class and he loved it! I don't think he would sit for the story time they do at our library...it's almost an hour. If its fee, then all you can do is try it out.

Have you tried? Our says it's an hour, but it's really two short books between songs and finger plays (all in all 10 - 15 minutes) then it's free play for the rest of the time.
We do it . He gets antsy near the end, but they do a good job at breaking up the time. Our library is also good at breaking up ages. C is in the 1-2 year time slot. They call it "The Young and the Restless". They have a lapsit time for 6 mos- 1 year and a storytime for 2-5 year olds. They also do crafts and movie times for school age kids in the summer.
It usually goes like this: song, book, song, bubbles, song or finger puppets, book, baby yoga (which is basically imaginary play- act like a dog, fly like a bird"). They they get a sticker at the end. The songs are usually songs with motions and/or props.
I will say it's not like Gymboree with all the freedom of movement. It's harder for him to sit still by the end (it's only 30 minutes), but it's worth it and he enjoys it. We also always check out books afterwards, too.
