I stopped breastfeeding DD2 when she was four weeks. She is now 3 1/2 months and I am trying to relactate. Has anyone gone through this and have any advice to be successful. Any information helps. TIA!
Yes, I did. And I've also contacted a La Leche League Leader. We are getting things underway. She latches and will be latching her on after feedings, I will also be pumping as much as possible.
are you making any milk at all? latching baby is the best way to start, that's for sure! I successfully relactated after not making any milk for 6 months. I ordered domperidone offline and honestly would not have been able to do it without that. Also, pump or nurse every 3 hours around the clock.
Thank you, holly71087! I've been throwing the idea around for the last several weeks and just made the decision today. We've started relatching and pumping today. I'm going to start the Mother's Milk tea and increase my water intake. What exactly is domperidone? How long did it take you to get your supply back?

domperidone is very similar to reglan except that it is not yet available in the US. I ordered it online at inhousepharmacy.biz the only reason it is not available in the US is because not enough studies have been done on it to know if it is safe or not to take while breastfeeding (other countries HAVE put the time and effort into the research and found it safe)
My DS wouldn't latch, so I was glued to a pump, I think thats why it took me a while (plus the domperidone takes up to 2 weeks to arrive) Also, I hadn't lactated in over 6 months. I was making about 2 ounces a day by the time the dom came, and it quickly increased my supply. I never got a full supply, but about 6 weeks into it I was pumping 15+ ounces a day. (my son was almost a year old at that point, that was all he needed, so I cut back my pumping sessions once I got to that point)
Do you have a really good pump? you might want to look into renting a hospital grade pump for the first month or so, however you are very fortunate that your baby is latching, that is the best thing for a milk supply! even if your baby is sleeping through the night, get up once or twice to pump for a few mins! your prolactin levels are at their highest between 1-3 am.
