3rd Trimester

Has being pregnant made you lose your 'filter'?

I tend to be a little blunt sometimes, in socially appropriate way that is.

But I find that since being pregnant I don't filter things as easily and I don't care if I come across rude - I say what I mean and that's it.

Is this a pregnancy thing? Or am I just being a ***? Lol.

Re: Has being pregnant made you lose your 'filter'?

  • Yes, I have lost my filter a little.  I usually say what I mean, but think it threw before saying it.  Since I've become pregnant I just tell it like it is, even if it's harsh! A couple of times I've felt bad...but at least I was honest! Don't worry too much. :)

  • I tend to be blunt too.  I noticed that I am more protective of my feelings and privacy.  When people are talking a little TOO much about my pregnancy then I find I shut them down pretty fast.  I don't think I'm rude, but I do leave little room for misunderstanding that this conversation is DONE. :)

As for other things that are unrelated to ME, I think I'm about the same, if not a bit more tolerant.

I think, too, that because we tend to be more tired than normal, that we lose patience a little faster.  Which is totally understandable, right? :)

  • I am usually not very blunt, but have become so while pregnant.  I just feel like I am not going to take the time to sugar coat things for people.  I've got too much else on my mind.

  • I am normally a very logical, reserved person.  Keeping my emotions in check has become increasingly difficult, though, and I know that I have become more sensitive, emotional, and irritable, especially as I reach the end of the pregnancy.

    It's a pregnancy thing.  I don't think you're being a *****.

  • I think I started off being nice. However all the dumb "you're huge", "you're going to be hot this summer", "your face has really filled out", etc. comments has made me lose my filter....lol.

  • Yup, this has definitely happened to me. Before pregnancy, I was very careful about what I said, now I just don't care :) It's actually helped me a little!
  • Whenever I have days like that, I just shut my mouth lol Because I know with what I'm thinking and what I want to say, it is going to hurt some feelings. It is hard to hold it in. & that's usually when people start asking me what is wrong and I just simply respond by saying, "My hormones have me a little ehhh, so I'm just trying to stay quiet right now." & they all understand and I know they appreciate that more, than me saying what I feel.. or I'll whisper into my husband's ear what I'm feeling, so I kind of let it out in a way :)
  • Oh gosh yes!!! These last two weeks I have no filter for crap. I mean I am still nice but if you piss me off there I go.

  • I've found myself cussing a lot more than normal.  I guess people are just really getting to me these days.

  • No offense, but people really use pregnancy as an excuse to do a lot of things that they know they shouldn't. No, being rude to the point of social inappropriateness is certainly not a pregnancy symptom, it's a choice.
  • Yesss...glad I'm not the only one.

This!  Except I don't blame my hormones.  I am a very blunt person to begin with and since about the middle of my second trimester any filter I have had has become non-existent.

You can't blame hormones totally, they are a bit to blame but you can watch what you say.  I am careful around my grandparents and thats about it.  Everyone else gets it as is!!

  • I have always been super kind and polite but once I got pregnant I lost all patience with people. Now if someone does something annoying (like not picking up trash thats right in front of them) I storm over, do it for them, and make a comment. I don't know where it came from lol
  • Actually had a friend tell me last night that I've become nicer since being pregnant! Lol
