The convertible seat poll got me thinking about the tether and whether or not it is standard on convertible car seats.

    We are using it, but I had no idea it existed until I unpacked our carseat the other day.

    I thought the tether was only for forward facing?

    our seats came with tether straps but the manual says to use when the seat is forward facing

    Maybe it depends on the kind?  We have the Britax marathon and they say to tether when rear-facing too.

    ETA: just did a quick google search, and it looks like it does depend on model.  Britax Marathon is one of the few convertible seats that are tested with the tether in rear facing.

    I didn't see a ? ...our tether is optional rear facing and only works in the crossover.

    We have a tether but I drive an F150 crew cab and there isn't a tether anchor for rear facing.

    Ours came with a tether but it's only for forward-facing
    BFP #1: EDD 8/29/11, MMC 1/14/11. BFP #2: Damien Isaac born 12/16/11. BFP #3: Rowen Cole born 7/28/14. BFP #4: EDD 9/16/16.
