  They have those straps that latch from Safety first that might work if you put it high enough.

  open the door and put up a gate. or get a hook and eye latch....I have holes all over in order to keep my girls safe.  Kind of comes with the territory. You can fill them in after.

  Thank you for the replies. I have been driving myself crazy with this project. I have been searching on the web today and came across a website, www.doorsmoocher.com that had an interesting product to lock pocket doors. I think I am thinking about getting one to see if it works. it looks like it fits on the side of the door. Will let you know what I find out. thanks, again.

  fyi. I ordered a doorsmoocher and put it on and I love it. i can go from both sides and did not have to put any holes in my door face which i really wanted to avoid. it was easy to install. took about 10 minutes. i would recommend it to anyone with a pocket door.
