  I would advise that if it is at all possible to pay out of pocket, you should. Maybe ask friends and family to loan you money. Or if there is a free clinic in your area, go there. There are a lot of people without insurance who get regular check-ups. I think it is important for you and your baby to see a doctor before 18 weeks!

  i agree with the above. most cities have clinics where they will charge you on a incomd rate and give you a low price. Heck my ob is only 90.00 a visit.

  I would def see the doctor.  If you speak with the billing manager or whoever does the billing, ask if they do a sliding fee schedule or a discount for self pay.  I was a medical biller for 7 yrs and did that and also I did hardship waivers for my patients.  Doesn't hurt to ask.

    Nah... dont pay out of pocket, you'll be fine just take it easy... With my first I wasnt able to go to the doc until I was 4 months along due to insurance reasons... i was spotting like crazy and going crazy in my mind wondering if everything was ok,,,,,, guess what..... everything was perfect and my little man was born at a not so little 10lbs 4 oz....  a word of advice... dont search the internet for answers to every little question cause you are going to read some horror stories that will only stress you out.....  Just wait it out unless you suspect something is not right (you'll know in your gut)..... congrats on your pregnancy and a bazillion blessings over your gorgeous life inside.
