Success after IF

I still haven't felt movement!

Or at least I don't think so!  I thought I felt something a couple of times but it was very light and I don't feel it everyday.  I just want to feel something. I know I am still early but it seems like everyone feels movement aroudn 16-18 weeks. I am almost 19 weeks. What if I still haven't felt anythign by like 20 weeks?

Re: I still haven't felt movement!

  • I'm sure that's completely normal!  I've heard of some people not feeling it until like 22/24 or later!  As long as everything looks good on the u/s, etc....don't worry!  Before you know it they will be kicking you like crazy!

  • I didn't feel movement until about 19 weeks and even at that point it wasn't consistent. I know...the waiting is difficult, but it will come.
  • I didn't feel movement until almost 22 weeks.  I had an anterior placenta so I knew it would be later before I felt anything.
  • I had anterior placenta as well, and didnt feel anything til week 21 or 22, it might have been 23.

The only time I felt anything before was a 15 weeks when I got a massage and was lying on my stomach.

  • I didn't feel movement everyday at your gestation.

Also, my friend had twins and she said she felt movement later.  I thought with twins sometimes you will feel it earlier, but not always.

Also, around your time I felt thumps which I thought was gas which later I figured out was small kicks.

You are fine - I think they want you to do kick counts starting at 28 weeks.  I think it was around 23/24 when I felt movement a lot daily.

  • I didn't feel anything until right at 20 weeks. Once I felt it, I was absolutely sure it was the baby moving. No question!

  • I'm the same way! I've only felt a few bubbles here and there...the type that make you say was that the baby??? Will I know when it really is the baby??? But, my doc said this is normal, especially because I do have an anterior placenta. Like you though I am anxious to feel something that I can definitely say, "Wow! Now that's the baby moving!"  I'm sure it will happen for both of us within the coming weeks.
  • Don't worry! I didn't feel anything until I was almost 20 weeks, and I know several people who didn't feel anything till 22 weeks or later. When I did start to feel it, it was very sporadic.

  • Don't worry, you are completely normal.  I didn't feel really feel anything until the 21st week or so.

  • Last pg I didn't feel anything till 19-20 weeks, and my OB said in a first pregnancy it's normal to not have definite movement until as late as 24 weeks.

  • From what I was told at my first u/s the placement of your uterus will determine if you feel the baby sooner or later.  I think if it's in one location you can feel the baby as soon as 16 weeks or so, but if it's in the other it can take you up to 20 or so weeks to feel anything.  (Sorry, I'm not sure which one is the front or the back)

  • I JUST started feeling consistant movement this week (and I just hit 27 weeks).  And, if it makes you feel better, at my apt last month my OB said I should have been feeling daily movement by then - ug!  But sicne we could hear her moving on the doppler, I didn't worry.  And this week, she has started going crazy.  It will come, I promise :)

  • Completely normal - remember, people on messages boards will often post the unusal - movement super early, but not the typical, feel things after 20 weeks.  Just figure for everyone saying they felt the baby move early there are probably 10 posters who didn't feel anything until later.
