So DD doesn't like pasta (mac n cheese, spaghetti, pasta salad, nothing!) or potatoes (blasphemy!!) and most meats or veggies. She also hates WCM but we're still working on that. She will eat the heck out of some fruit (diced peaches, mandarin oranges, watermelon, strawberries, grapes...), cheese, yogurt, toast/bread of any kind, Cheerios/puffs/yogurt melts, and she's obsessed with these homemade black bean patties I make for her. I feel like I go back to the same foods over and over after she refuses other things. I also worry that she's not getting enough fat in her diet (she does still BF 4x day though).
So, tell me what are some of your LO's food quirks? Do they like or dislike some crazy things? Maybe I can get some ideas for new things
Re: Tell me about LO's food quirks
Meat seems to be the only thing that's hit or miss. She'll eat a piece or two and be done. Otherwise she likes almost anything else. I have to say, pasta is her favorite and she would eat as much as I give her.
I like hiding things in quesadillas. She's not too crazy about avocado but will eat it if I put it in a quesadilla. Might be worth a try if you DD likes bread and cheese.
Well, it started with this recipe that I made for dinner one night awhile back. I pureed everything until smooth. DH fed a little bit to DD who, surprisingly, really liked it.
Now I kinda just throw some things into the food processor and don't follow a recipe. Usually I do: 1 can black beans drained/rinsed, 1 egg, whatever veggies I have around (red peppers, corn, cooked carrots etc - FYI I did spinach once, and it made the burgers look green and moldy but she still ate them haha), and some seasonings (garlic, cumin, pepper, etc). Then I dump it into a bowl and stir in enough bread crumbs so it's firmed up a bit. I put the bowl in the fridge for several hours to firm up further, then I just saute small patties in some olive oil. I usually flash freeze them and store in a zip lock bag.
She's a carb junkie, any kind of bread, pasta, etc she'll eat everything you give her. She likes meat but her daycare is vegetarian so she doesn?t get a chance to eat it too often. The girl also loves seafood broiled or grilled fish is her favorite but she also loves her some lobster.

He's okay with most purees now but for finger foods, he hates anything slimy, wet, or mushy. That pretty much leaves crackers, puffs, freeze-dried fruit, cheese, and waffles. I sent tortellini to school today, we'll see if that fits into the slimy category or not.
It's really frustrating but I just keep offering what we eat. Hopefully someday he'll start eating it.
There isn't a whole lot Maya won't eat- but she hasn't had patience for purees for quite some time. She'll eat yogurt off a spoon, but it's messy since she tries to do it herself.
With meat- some days she eats more than others, but she seems to like everything.
Avocados are the only thing I've noticed so far that she doesn't care too much for. If I mix it in with something she'll eat it, but not by itself.
So far he doesn't seem to be a fan of potatoes, eggs, and carrots. He will literally make a face and pick it out of his mouth if I give him any of it. He LOVES cheese.
His biggest quirk though, which I've discussed numerous times - he doesn't like to swallow his food. I can literally only give him a few teeny tiny pieces of food at a time and then make him say "AAAHHH" to check if he's storing in his cheeks before giving him more.
DS - just recently went on dairy/soy - LOVES yogurt, hates cheese, ice cream, his bday cake, eggs. Seems to like pasta with tomato sauce, but hates mac n cheese. Loves waffles and Goldfish crackers. Likes watermelon but won't eat strawberries or blueberries
DD Eats only a few things - sunbutter and jelly sandwiches, yogurt, applesauce, bread, bananas, apples, strawberries, ice cream, Goldfish, and meat occasionally. My kids hate veggies, too.
Evelyn isn't too picky, although lately she has been rejecting some things she used to like. One thing you might try is giving things in different sizes. For some reason, she likes meat cut up in small pieces (she loves meat!) but she insisted on the whole peeled mango the other day! She made a huge mess but she ate quite a bit. Also, she likes guacamole but not avocado by itself, which I think is odd.
