Size 4 Diapers

So up until now I think I have been getting good deals on diapers (amazon mom + subscribe and save).  I am loyal to pampers swaddlers and now that DS is moving up to size 4's, I plan to move to cruisers.  I like the softness of the pampers swaddlers and have heard the cruisers are similar.

Where do I find the best prices for size 4's? Amazon seems spendy for size 4's.  It seems that baby cheapskate primarily looks at size 3's in her weekly deals.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

No suggestions on price but if I were you I'd try a smaller pack of the cruisers first.  I bought some and hated them.  We are also big swaddlers fans but the cruisers kept leaking for some reason.  They just didn't fit her right.  I also did not notice them being soft, they seemed like any other diaper to me on that front.

All of this.  I got 3 cruizers diapers as samples and HATE them.  I am very loyal to swaddlers.  I am so pissed off at the lack of quality diapers in the larger sizes with Pampers that when LO hits size 4 I think we will be ditching it for Target Up and Up diapers.

Curisers are not soft and they leak and get lumpy and fat when wet.  So damn gross!

ETA:  I am seriously thinking about cloth diapering if I hate the Up and Ups

  • I loved Swaddlers and used them from day 1 but didn't like cruisers at all... We switched to Earth's Best (DD is still in 3's but we liked them so much we are doing them now since she will be in 4's soon and we can continue with them). They are soft, super absorbent and a great deal on Amazon with amazon mom and Subscribe and Save (same price as pampers size 3 and 4s are priced well too!) We love them and even DH who could care less about diapers has commented on how nice they are!

  • Another diss on Pampers. We've switched to Huggies Little Movers. The pampers just stopped fitting right for some reason.

Personally I like LUVS.  I can see past things like the crinkle sound of a diaper though.  I don't think they are loud personally but have heard others say they think they are.  LUVS are made by Pampers so they are similar but WAY cheaper.  I don't feel like the absorbancy is quite as good as Pampers so we use Pampers at night and LUVs during the day.  We have never had a day time leak and very few night leaks (in LUVS, but still few) No night leaks in Pampers.  Honestly I buy what ever Pampers I have coupons for or are on sale so we use both Baby Dry and Cruisers.

  • Thanks for all of the comments!  We have used the Up & Up and like them for day use, but always went back to the pampers for night use.  The Up and Up did tend to bulk up more than the pampers though.

Maybe we will try the Huggies.  I had a free sample and they seemed OK. I thought they were a little less absorbant than the swaddlers, but sufficient.  I already bought a clearance box of the pampers cruisers from target.  I guess if we don't like them, we can always use them at daycare (they change diapers really frequently, so we can get by with a "bulkier" diaper).

I will check out the other brands mentioned too.

    Thanks!

  • We used Pampers Swaddlers from size NB-2. When we were going to size 3, I bought small packs of Cruisers, Swaddlers, and Baby Dry and ended up going with Baby Dry. I originally didn't like them because they weren't as soft as the Swaddlers, but they contained leaks much better so we've been using them ever since. LO is in size 4 now. The last box I bought from Amazon was $37.75 for 196 (so about 19 cents each).

  • I feel differently than most posters. We loved the Swaddlers, and I really love Cruisers. We've been in size 4 for a while. I don't like the diaper to be tight, so she wears them a little big. I tried Huggies, and Target brand and was not at all happy with them. I buy them from warehouse stores, with the coupons I have (BJ's, Sam's, Costco). I have found the best prices there, but I admit that I don't compare prices very intensly.

  • I'm a huge Huggies lover! DS has been in Pampers Cruisers for about a week since we had a pack and ran out of Huggies and he's leaked both nights we didn't use a cloth diaper at bedtime. Huggies never leaked for us overnight so I stopped using cloth at night but now we are back to cloth because of the Pampers. The family I nanny for uses Up and Up on their little boy and they love them. I haven't price compared to Huggies yet but we might switch to those, plus cloth diaper a lot more during the day.

  • We like cruisers.  I often stock up when BRU has sales.  I also like baby dry, they seem to run small but you get more per box.  I usually buy those between sizes.

I should mention we haven't really had a problem with any diaper.  If I run out and I don't have coupons or can't find a decent sale I buy Target Up and Up.

Add me to the list of swaddler loves/cruisers haters!  I like Huggies Lil Movers, but they irritate Ty's skin.  I was not a fan of Up & Up at all (the smell).  So far I'm thinking I'm going to switch to Sam's.  A coworker gave me a handful and I liked them.

  • I wanted to love Cruisers but they just don't work for us. LO is on the small side. I don't think he's quite 20lbs yet and the waistband on the Cruisers always gathers and then the diapers sags once wet (Baby Dry do a little, but are better). I feel like I can't get them tight enough. I love the Huggies waistband for this. His diaper doesn't gather and doesn't sag and fits him really well. For me the perfect diaper would be a Pampers with a Huggies waistband.

We just switched to Taget's brand too and I love them!  We weren't loyal to either, but we used Huggies and Pampers and since switching, I plan to use these for M and hopefully any future babies.  The best part is they're super cheap too.

  • We loved Swaddlers but I didn't like Cruisers all that much and they are pricey.  We tried several kinds but I decided on Baby Dry- they are softer like swaddlers and don't feel as bulky.  They are also cheaper on Amazon.

Huggies Little Movers fit DD well (we used them over xmas) even though we didn't like them AT ALL as a newborn and they leaked terribly back then... The few times we have used them lately though they have fit very well (better than the Cruisers) but they did give her a bit of a rash...

I really do highly recommend Earth's Best if you like the Swaddlers - they are similar and so so so absorbent! On Amazon right now if you do subscribe and save (which you can cancel anytime) it's only 33.76 for a 120 box (for size 4's). They are $80 in stores for that many but on Amazon they are a good price and I wish someone had told me about them a sooner. My friend switched to them from Pampers Swaddlers too and told me about them and we've never looked back!

  • We by Pampers Baby dry at BJs. They are a pretty good price and almost always have a coupon in the monthly coupon book.
