Re: CPW: If you use bottles...

  • I said no... We are waiting till 24-months before we physically take them away.  I think the transition from formula to WCM will be hard enough on DD without adding the additional stress of no bottles.  She takes straw cups ok and sippy cups not too bad but she doesn't sit there and chug from them like she does with her bottle.  I don't want to worry about her getting dehydrated...

TBH though, I am hopeful she'll drop them herself between now and 24-months.

  • Yes. The easiest time to take them away is when you make the switch. I dont give milk in bottles. Bottle rot scares me.

LOL, I've already broken the first rule too many times to count!  ...

Lower the risk of the baby?s infection with decay-causing bacteria. This can be done two ways ? by improving the oral health of the mother/caregiver which reduces the number of bacteria in her mouth and by not sharing saliva with the baby through common use of feeding spoons or licking pacifiers and giving them to babies.

  • Can you believe my F** MIL shared her fork with MY DD!!! I was too chicken to say "well...am I feeding her or are you?!"

I was livid!!! ggrr...I knew it wasn't good for the LOs..if I would have once read this I would have quoted "you will transfer decay-causing bacteria, so please don't share your utensil!!"

btw- I clicked 1 yr...she does great with straws and sippy..I won't push it so maybe 1.5 yrs? somewhere along that.

  • My LO is no good at the sippy so we are keeping bottles until she figures them out.  She will only get BM in bottles.  Once we switch to sippies, she'll get water, WCM, and BM in them.

  • Nope. She'll be 1 next month and hasn't figured out sippys yet.

Yeah we are basically in the same boat.

BM will be from bottles, WCM from sippies. I still nurse her at bedtime, so that keeps the comfort of nursing/bedtime bottle up.
