LO's finger got pinched in the chair! OUCH!

So last night my DH's cousin (who rents a room from us) got home from work and Bay was excited to see him as usual. So he sat down in one of the bar stools up at the counter to eat his dinner and Bay walked up to him. He turned the chair and she let out such a loud yelp and she imediatly began to cry. He tried to pick her up but she started to cry more. I looked over and I saw that her finger was stuck inbetween the swivel seat and the leggs of the chair and every time he turned it would pinch her finger harder. So I grabbed her and pulled her finger out. Thank god it was just the tip of her ring finger. She cried such a hard cry. It broke all of our hearts! So I gave her some tylenol and a little vanilla Ice Cream (Ice Cream always makes an owey feel better :-)) and then rocked her with a bottle. She ended up falling asleep. Poor baby, that is hardest I have ever heard her cry. I feel so bad for her.

We have her 1 year well visit today and I am going to have her Pedi look at it.

Anyone else having issues with their little ones getting into stuff and getting hurt now that they are mobile? Or am I on the "Terrible Mother of the Year" list..... :-(

  • Ty''s pinched his fingers in stuff before.  It's no fun for anyone.  Painful for him and heartbreaking for anyone around to hear him cry and see how in pain he is.

This definitely doesn't put you on the terrible mother list!  And I hate to say it, but it'll happen again - or something similar.  Their mobile now and that creates accidents and owies.

  • That made me so sad to read!  LO hasn't had anything big yet, but she keeps bumping her head on things and it sounds like the end of the world is here. I makes my heart break to see her little face all scrunched up crying. I can only imagine what it will be when there is something very painful. Sigh...can we just put them in a bubble? :-(
  • DS pinches his finger in something often - sometimes worse than others. I'm sort of surprised that he doesn't have the instinct to pull his finger out.

  • Maya pinches her fingers in drawers and cabinet doors fairly often- I don't think it's as painful anymore b/c I think she's learned not to slam the drawers shut.  But she still hasn't figured out to pull her fingers out so whenever it happens I have to come save her.
