Reading the post about self care milestones below it seems that resisting diaper changes is no longer normal at this age. Is this true? J hates having his diaper changed still and rolls like a crocodile when I try. Anyone else?
I think A is actually getting worse with diaper changes! It's almost every time now she screams and fights. I don't know what to do about it but I hope it gets better soon. Glad Im not the only one.

This is the perfect phrase for the practice of attempting not to smear poo everywhere. I think a couple of times I've nearly had to hold him upside down by the ankle to clean his bum.
Lol, we call my son's antics the "crocodile roll" also.
DS is Jekyll & Hyde on the changing table. Sometimes he's completely happy and either giggly or calm. Other times, he starts kicking his legs, screaming, and thrashing about before I've even laid him down. I never know what to expect and I have come to the point where I dread every diaper change.
I've tried changing him on the floor, but that makes it even worse, because then he wants to flip over and crawl around and play. Sometimes it helps if I start singing to him BEFORE placing him on the changing table. That way he's calm and listening first, and then I sort of trick him into being calm.
I told my mum yesterday that DD is getting PT ASAP because I can't deal with a kid who cries for almost every diaper change and won't stay still! Evening changes are a two person job in our house, it's a nightmare!!
C still fights it a lot of the time. She does best if I stick to the changing table... when I try and change her on the couch, bed, or floor she is all over the place.
Take this with a grain of salt, because we are on the extreme end according to her pedi and early intervention evaluators.
She screams so loud with flailing that my husband swears one day the neighbors are going to call CPS. She also purposely smacks her arms and legs against walls if she's near one. If not she slams her legs/feet down as hard as she can on the floor. I have started singing a little made up diaper change song and always giving her a toy immediately upon lay down and it's helping to distract her a bit.

E just started to be a terror during diaper changes. Screaming, flipping over, etc. It's horrible. I'm hoping it's a short lived phase.

Stella still fights them and actually I think it has gotten worse.
