Trying to Get Pregnant

AW: I'm absolutely miserable

First off, this is a complete AW post. I am feeling miserable and needed to vent to someone.

Last Friday through Sunday I was having bad pain that I thought was my endometriosis. Monday I went to the ER and found out it was appendicitis and had emergency surgery. I have been in so much pain, and nothing seems to help with it.

Now not only do I have the pain of surgery, but I got AF today. So I have cramps on top of it all. (this is after a wonderful month that I thought we had hit our FW perfectly, so I'm disappointed)

What is the worst time you have gotten AF?

(thanks for letting me whine a little, you ladies are wonderful.)

Re: AW: I'm absolutely miserable

  • Oh no! That's terrible! Hope you feel better soon! My worst was the first time I got my period- I had chicken pox at the same time. Nice, eh?

  • Oh no!  Vent away, that sounds awful.  I always seem to get AF when I'm sick, but not as extreme as you.  I guess the silver lining is that you caught the appendicitis before your appendix burst and your endo wasn't acting up too much?

  • I'm so sorry you feel so bad! I've heard appendicitis is excruciating...here's hoping you have a quick recovery!

The worst time I had AF was my w/d bleed after stopping BCP. I caught an intestinal flu bug that was going around at the same time so I had that w/ a 102 degree fever, and AF on top of it all. MH suggested that I was having w/d symptoms from stopping BCP! I just gave him the side-eye and locked myself in the bathroom.

  • I'm sorry, that sounds horrible! AF is such an inconsiderate b!tch, she just shows up out of the blue with a couple suitcases. My worst timing had to be when MH lived outside St. Louis when we were dating (a 9-10hr drive from here), and it seemed nearly every time we were able to see eachother (either he came to town or flew me there) AF would just show up, ready to board the plane. How conveeeeeeenient.

  • Man, that sounds horrible. I'm sorry you're in so much pain. I've never had appendicitis, or endo, but I did have an ovarian cyst that had me doubled over. The hospital gave me malox Tongue Tied then pain killers because they didn't know what was going on. Stupid cyst wouldn't be diagnosed for another 8 years.
  • Yikes, OP.  That sucks unbelievably.  AF never comes at a good time so I don't have a great story, but just wanted to wish you well.

  • I'm sorry to hear you had appendicitis but I'm glad you caught it before your appendix burst. I know 2 different guys who tried to tough out the pain they were feeling and both of them almost ended up dying because their appendix had burst. It was really scary! Thank goodness you didn't just chalk up the pain you were feeling to endometriosis. I hope you have a quick recovery.

  • I hope you feel better soon!  My worst time to get af, was 3 days before a cyst ruptured on my right ovary, the pain was so horrible, I ended up crying on the bathroom floor in the fetal position, and DH had to rush me to the hospital at 4:30 in the morning.

  • I hope you feel better soon! My worst was years ago when we were vacationing in florida and my granfather took my brother, cousin and myself to the pool. Well a few hours later there it was! I was so embarrased to tell my grandfather.

  • Aww, I'm sorry to hear that, I hope you recovery quickly.

My worst AF happened when I was up at the family cottage for summer vacation when I was 17.  I ended up staying in bed almost the entire week and missed out on the fun.

  • That sucks.  FX for a speedy recovery!

The most awkwardly-timed period I ever got was actually my first period.  I was twelve, and I had broken my arm really badly a few weeks prior (like hospital transfer/inpatient surgery bad).  I had to wear this weird sling thing that kept my arm strapped to my stomach, so I only had the use of one hand.

    It was awkward.

  • Thank you ladies! Percocet and ice packs are helping to dull the surgery pain and cramps. You all had some bad times AF shows up, I guess when it rains it pours as my mom says!
