..who shakes milk before pouring? MH just asked why I did this. I realize I ALWAYS shake milk before pouring it for her or myself. Not a vigorous shaking but kind of a slosh shake. I searched the carton and it doesn't say to do so anywhere. Am I a weirdo? Does milk even settle? I have no idea why I've always done this..
Re: Am I the only one...
I don't shake it, but I smell it every single time. Even if I just poured a glass an hour before I smell it again. I have an extreme fear of spoiled milk.
I think the organic WCM carton says to shake it.
^This. I grew up shaking the milk and still do it to regular milk even though its not needed. Funny how some habits just stay with you

Y'all are crazy... I've never shaken milk before. But we always get homogenized milk.
I'm a freak about the date though... even though it's a sell by date I won't drink the milk within a couple days before the date.
I do it too! I also have no idea why, but it's just something I've always remembered doing! I kind of vigorously shake though.
ETA: I think it stems from when I was a kid I loved to scoop the milk bubbles out with a spoon, so I always shook the milk to get more bubbles!

Same here- I've been burned before.
I shake, but I secretly hope it is partially frozen. Shaking make the ice crystals break apart nicely.
It's dumb because we don't keep our fridge that cold. When the power would go out in the winter in NH when I was a kid, we would put everything in coolers outside and the milk froze. Yeah the power would go out often enough that I hoped for frozen milk. Our fridge would also get freezing sometimes. I don't remember it ever getting warm.
