Re: 1st trimester and Gaining Weight Already...
DIfferent pregnancies means different ways of gaining.
Ds1.. I gained a total of 14 pounds. All of which was well into the second and third trimester.
ds2.. I gained 10 pounds by 12 weeks pregnant and continued to gain another 25 pounds by the end of my pregnancy...35 pounds total,
This one- I have gained 1 pound and am hoping to keep it down till the late second trimester.
This is really weird but I have only gaind 2lbs but I feel like it has been 10-15!
Damn this bloat!
This!

Just the conversation thread I was looking for! So, I am in the boat opposite to some of you. I am nearing 9 wks and haven't gained at all, but I FEEL I've gained 10 pounds. I am def bigger in the tummy (have a tiny pouch and starting to see hips are getting bigger).
Before my IVF, I was 105 (I'm 5'4") and gained 3 pounds with the stims. I've maintained at 108 now since finding out we were pregger at Week 4. At night the scale reads 110 but by morning I am back to normal weight at 108. I'm even eating more that I used too (but not stuffing my face!). I read you tend to bloat up more throughout the day. First tri is mainly water weight and bloat.
Someone on the thread mentioned maybe you are having twins. I actually am having twins and just because you may gain more in first tri doesn't mean you are having twins. Trust me. Women who are having twins tend to follow a singleton pregnancy curve up until the end of the 2nd tri or start of the third tri from what I read.
Also, keep in mind, that your baby is getting the nutrition it needs no matter what you eat if you are taking the prenatals. Sure, it would be healthier if you gain the weight, but if your doc sees that your babies are on track and growing and if some reading this thread are not really gaining weight, it is OKAY. The important thing is that the baby is on track.
