so far i've only given her rice cereal, squash, carrots, & bananas. today i am trying apples. it's been about 2 weeks & she just started sleeping that long.
i try new food during the day at about 10am- her 2nd meal of the day. i only give her cereal at night, sometimes w/ a bit of a food i know she is ok with mixed in. i moved the cereal to about 7pm. she nurses after & goes down. i think that helps that she gets the cereal so late at night.
i give her 2 oz of food during the day & 2 tablespoons of cereal mixed w/ water & then nurse at night
I don't mean to burst your bubble, but it is not likely that the small amount of solids you've added (2 oz and 2 tbsp. of cereal at night) is what is helping your baby STTN. Our LO's are at the age where their sleep cycles are starting to regulate, and they are beginning to STTN regardless of what you do.
2 ounces of purees and 2 tbsp. of rice cereal is about 30 calories. That is the equivalent to one ounce of breastmilk.
I don't really care what research or logic says - I swear solids helped us too. There's no way it was a total coincidence that the night before (and the 2-3 weeks before) we started she was up 5 times and took 30+ minutes to go back to sleep (whether I fed her or not) and the night we started she was up once to nurse and went right back to sleep and we never looked back.

me 2. she was up at 3-4am every single night for a month & then once i started giving her the rice cereal at 7pm, she now sleeps til 8am.
My LO has been on Solids since 4 months. No real increase in them, if not a decrease since we have began finger foods. He has been waking every 1.5-2 hours since 3 months (which before, he had STTN for 2 months). In the last week, he has started STTN again. No rhyme or reason, though I would be more likely to agree with someone like you when the STTN started immediately with the solids, not several weeks after starting solids.

i gradually worked her up to twice a day actually. at first i was only giving during the day & nothing at night. i just started at night & within the past week moved from giving the night feeding at 5pm vs 7pm. should've mentioned that!
but if it makes you feel good to be "right" then ok, you are right LOL
Re: started solids-- 2 nights of 12 hours sleep
What solids are you giving her and how often/how much? Solids haven't helped me in the sleep department yet
