Cute conversation with my Dad about Bbreastmilk

dad was watching me nurse DD2 when he suddenly says, "It's amazing isn't it how you can just grow a baby with your milk."

To which I kinda shrugged and said, "yeah well it's what it's for."

So dad persists and says, "yes but I mean, it's not just cows milk is it."

To which I replied,"No, but cows milk grows perfectly good cows."

and then Dad was all, "oh yeah" like it was a revelation that cows milk is actually designed for cows.

It was very cute to hear him marvel at BM. My Mum BF all four of us, so clearly this had been a source of wonder for dad for many years.

    That is really sweet! And it is amazing that we 'grow' humans with breast milk. I remember thinking that when I was still nursing :-)

    It's so funny when people have that realization about cows' milk. I also think it's ironic when people think it's "weird" to drink goats' milk, haha. I'm vegan, so that kind of stuff is always entertaining for me.

    That is cute. :)

    The other day I brought home some coconut oil.  MH asked what it was for and I replied that you can do all kinds of things with it:  cook, spread on toast, use it as lotion, diaper rash cream.  Then he said, "Well, sounds like if you mixed it with breastmilk you could cure cancer!"  LOL he has been taking in all the amazing properties of breastmilk!

    I always try to take a picture of my children the day before they try their first solid food. Because at that moment that entire being was created by me (with a tiny cellular contribution from my husband) and I find that beautiful and amazing. Once they're eating solids I'm still amazed, but don't have sole claim to their growth.
