LO tries to crawl and ends up belly-flopping

LO is having a tough time right now. He badly wants to crawl, and launches himself with gusto from the sitting position. This results in a face-plant of a belly-flop. Today I didn't catch him in time and he flopped right onto his vtech top. He screamed for about 8 seconds, and was fine, but he has a pretty good scratch on his poor noggin!

  • Yep, my son is doing it too. He can sometimes get up on all fours but not consistently.

  • Lucas tummy sleeps. He just had his first wake up of the night. Much to my surprise I found him fully sitting up. Not quite sure how he got from his tummy to sitting. Sadly we have to lower the mattress like NOW!!!

  • J is thisclose to crawling. He gets up on all 4s and has gotten a few 'crawls' in lately (putting one hand in front of the other and scooting his knees up), but he usually will put his hand out and jerk both knees behind him so hard that he face plants. But he's really trying. He refuses to lay down anymore and goes straight to all 4s if sitting up or if I put him on his back/belly. I'm really looking for him to take off any day now.

  • E does the belly flop too, usually right on our puppy dog because that is his motivation to get moving!  I was thinking this morning about how much harder it is going to be when they are mobile.  Now I can just set him on his play mat in front of toys in one room while I'm in the kitchen (we have an open floor plan, so I can see him) doing things.  Once he is mobile, I'm not sure what our mornings are going to look like!
