Due Date question after stopping BC pills

I stopped taking my birth control pills 18 days after I had my regular period, and I had some bleeding for the next couple days.  I took a pregnancy test that was negative 4 days after I missed my period.  Then, I took one the following week and it was positive.  Any idea if I should count my LMP for the due date purpose from the date I had my last period OR from the date I had the bleeding after stopping birth control?  It's a gap of 18 days, so I'd appreciate any help!

  • I'd tell your doc that exact thing, and see which one they think is better. Or maybe they'll just do a dating u/s to confirm and date your pregnancy. Oh...AND CONGRATS!!!

  • Hi I got pregnant the month after we got off Nuva Ring so I was in the same boat.  You can see my chart below that it didn't make any sense at all.  Based on my LMP I should be about a week ahead so I'm thinking either I just O'd late or my LMP was actually my first occurance of spotting during the cycle.

Really the only way to know will be to have a dating US so you need to let your doctor know that you are not sure when your LMP really was.  Good luck!

  • If the pregnancy test was negative 4 days after your missed period, then it probably will be more accurate to consider the mid-cycle bleeding to be the date of your LMP.

  • I have the same problem. I only had one cycle (the last week of March) and then nothing. I took numerous pregnancy tests from April through the middle of May and all were negative. We went on vacation and two weeks after we got back, I scehduled an appt. because I was worried that I hadn't gotten my cycle and was also not pregnant. I took a test before the appt. and it was positive! According to my LMP, I should be 12 weeks, but she guesstimated (by my symptoms and the last test I took) that I was more like two. She scheduled an appt. in two weeks and is going to do an ultrasound. I'm dying to know as well, but I guess we'll have to be patient on this one!
